I have some sort of mid-80s 5.0, apparently not from a mustang (details here). I bought serpentine pulleys for the main, alt, and water pump to replace the v-belt pulleys on there. I'll have an a/c compressor, but no smog pump. I purchased one pulley tensioner, but not sure what else I need, or what the routing should be in this instance. Any help is appreciated.

The pulley set I bought does not match the water pump I bought. Apparently the bolt holes for the water pump are different between the mustang and the LTD motors. I just got off the phone with Summit, and he says that I'll need a pulley set specific to the LTD motor. They don't offer one, but March does, for $209.88 (as opposed to the $69.95 set that I bought). That's freakin' nuts.

I think I might just drill out the water pump pulley bolt holes. Is that a bad idea?

I assume the LTD 5.0 is alike with the Thunderbird 5.0s.... Yes you can just drill the holes out, when people use the Bird water pump on a HO they have to drill out the holes for it to work.

If your keeping the ALT bracket that came on the V belt setup, you won't need a tensioner, you can just rotate the ALT for tension.

Awesome, thanks. I wasn't sure if that alt bracket was supposed to be there, that answers my question.

Thanks. I was holding up the alt yesterday trying to get an eye for how it'll be, and it looks like it'll be too close to the block for the pulleys to line up.

Does anyone have a pic of their alt mounted? I just want to see what it should look like.
