First, the strut tower brace is not the original Saleen piece. The Saleen Strut tower brace run through the inside of the struct tower, not bolted to the outside of the tower as shown in the picture.

I dunno...it looks like the same STB as this one to me on this '89 SSC

here is the one you are talking about on the inside of the strut towers on an '86 Saleen

The pictures of this car I beleive look like pictures of a car with 9900 miles. Look at the pictures I found on a car that is for sale with 4300miles on it. This car is also being sold by a very reputable Saleen seller. So the engine compartment on this saleen for sale actually looks a alot cleaner than the GT pics:

90 GT for sale 4300miles

That's a sweet GT. Makes me wish i were older so i could have bought one new...

Ok I spoke with Mark at PAS who is in most cases the most knowledgable person when it comes to Saleens. The car is 100% accurate and show room clean. Interesting enought I did not know that in late 1989 Saleen went into bankruptcy and handed the rights over to a company called Cars on Concepts CNC to build there late 89-91 cars. The quality from CNC was a tad better into the cars than Saleen had done. One of the unique features from CNC is that the lower part of the door actually fleered out to match the sideskirts.

I can't beleive how much heritage and rare models there are in the Saleen family. Can't wait to take delivery :)

Bad News!! My buddy just finished looking at the car and the Passenger side from the door back has noticeable Overspray. He also said that it looked like both fenders were replaced as well. I can not beleive when he told me that had very noticeable overspray. Allthough he said the lines on the car are straight as an arrow. I am not in this market for Saleen that has any flaws at all. At least paint flaws. I can't begin to tell you what a let down this has been. Oh well there is plenty of fish in the sea

Above is true, however, its been known that 90 and 91 model yrs commonly come with missing parts. In fact, the SSC model has 3 different levels of tune to the engine, this is the reason for lack of power from the higher #'ed cars. Mark used to work for Saleen so his knowledge is superior to most Saleen owners, and some saleen employee's.

As for rare. fox saleen convertibles are going to command a pretty penny in a few more yrs due to the small amount produced.. :nice:

Good luck on your bidding

John - I still think $14.5 is a damn good price for a low mileage Saleen Vert even with some minor bodywork. The thing that still puzzles me is the 200 mph speedometer??? To my knowledge, the only Fox Body Saleens that received 200 mph speedometers were the SC's and the SSC. The stock speedometer should be 170 MPH. This could explain the low mileage. Even still.....It's a sweet looking automobile!!!!

A little wet sanding takes care of the overspray, but yes there is always going to be that itch in your head. the extent of the real damage to the car during the accident. Very understandable.

Once again what a dissapointment this has been to me. My buddy sent me a zip file with about 15 pics and in some cases washers were of place on fenders. Red overspray inside the Passenger wheel wells. The headers and most of the other interal metals were rusted and or looks like they saw salt water. This car in no way has 9900 miles. The odo must have been shut down or the car was in a wreck and landed in the Atlantic. Once again this will not stop me on looking for a cherry Saleen. I have been eyeing the White SC at www.performanceautosport.com for quite some time. Mark at PAS has been very helpful on this matter as well.

Well this is the main reason for not buying this Saleen, on top of the fact that the individual who took these pictures for me has been in and around the Body Shop business for over 15 years.:

In this picture you can see overspray in the wheel well and what looks like bondo before the black trim "Look close you will see bubbling"

Correct...only the SSC and SC models had the 200 mph speedometer.

The 90 SC car is really nice! The 2 pc wing is the only "odd" looking thing on the 90 and 91 models. The DP5 rims on the car look perfect.

It's all for the better man...i'm sure you know by now not to get your hopes up right? *Try* (key word here) not to fall in love with the next Saleen you consider, people are crooked.
