I am not sure if I am in the right section or not. If I am in the wrong section can someone please tell me the right place to post this thread. I have a 1993 mustand hatchback. My seats were in pretty bad shape. So I decided to replace them. I went to replace all the seats, both front and back. I went to a local junkyard and was given seat from a 1987 mustang. The front two bucket seats went in no problem. The back seat was a different story. My son-in-law went to put it in for me. As he was putting it in he said the it did not fit. When asked why it wouldn't fit he said that the bolt holes would not line up. I am not sure if the seats that I got from the junkyard came out of a hatchback or not. From the research that I have done and from what I have been told, the seats from the 1987 are compatiable with my 1993. Is this true? What are the differences in the hatchback's rear seats versus the coupes? Are they interchangeable? I am not to concered if they fold down or not. If they are not interchangeable is the a way to modify the coupe seats to fit into a hatchback. Just looking for some help with this as quickly as possible. Any other information need just ask. Thanks for the help in advance.

You most likely have the rear seat out of a notch, which ARE different than the ones from a hatchback. I'm sure someone else can chime in on whether you can do something to get them to fit in your car.

Pictures of the seats you got would help. The seat/bottom part should work between a hatch and a notch but the backs are different. If the back you got is one piece it will not work in your car if the back is 2 sections then it should work. the 79 and early Mustang/Capris had a once piece fold down back but you said yours came from an 87. So if they came from a hatch they should be the split fold down seats. If they came from a convertible neither the bottom or back would fit the vert rear seat is narrower.

the uppers should be compatible. the lower is not unless you swap over the mounting bars from a 90-93.

I know you're in a hurry to get an answer, but there's no need to make the same post in six different subforums.
