Ok here is my dilemma which i know you guys have heard before. Last night was my second time at the track, my motor is stock except k&n filter. I got beat by a neon srt 4 and it makes me so mad, its time for some serious modding(like 8000 worth). I was going to stay N/A, but im like screw it might as well just turbo it. Bad thing is i have 4.10s, and ive heard nothing but bad things on traction with 4.10s plus supercharger, so my question is pretty simple really, Turbo or supercharge with 4.10s, honestly i love the turbo sound, but i value everyones opinion here, I come from a nothing but chevy family so i am on my own with just u guys help. Second question i was going to get an sct as well to fix speedo, should i still get it? or should i wait till after the turbo to get it. Third question goes for axels 31 spline, and bars, ford f springs, tokico shocks (sp?) sound good to you guys? Let me know what you guys think. Act like you guys have 8000 to spend, and what you would do with it, cause after my friends laughing at me for not beating a neon,(chevy fans )im pretty upset about it honestly, although i know they are just joking with me, imo srt neons should not beat 4.10 mustangs. Btw i ran 14.10 npi GT. 4th question maybe i should get a bigger motor for the mustang if i get a turbo that is. Sorry for all the questions, it was really hard to post me getting beat by a neon lol.

I can tell you know you wont need a bigger motor if you get a turbo you motor will work fine ..tho i forgot to read carefully enough to notice your engine size..i will assume it is the 4.6 cause that is the board we are on Ok so yeah I have seen twin turbo mustangs before and the price for the whole kit is around 7 grand american and it comes with EVERY part you will need...so yeah that is definitly what i would do, the mustang put somewhere near 800hp to the ground....so it would mess up your driveway something fierce. i would look into those (twin turbo is cool....install looks hard due to piping but again it comes with every part and instructions so yeah... rock hard) I would get the twin turbo kit as well - the same kit makes 900hp+ twin turbo kits for corvettes and some other big american motors so they have some credibility undertheir belt

and yeah an SRT4 should beat your car..it has beat mine..well no I chose not to race him cause I knew i woudl lose... we have the same car man and really it sucks in comparsion to modern cars a 4.6ltr v8 only putting like 180hp or less to thr wheel and like 250pounds of torque or less..we beat the srt4 in torque yes but it owns us in the weight class as well as drive train loss (it has less of taht) and has more hp and better gearing because it is 6 speed...so yeah i was upset too

I wax upon srt-4's all the time, your srt-4 must have been modded. If you want to ill trade you my stock 3.27's for your 4.10's, lol... but seriously....

From what he said and I SEEN just drag radials and upgraded turbo, but who knows i couldnt see his gauges cause of tint, could have been a bottle somewhere, but it dont matter, ive beat neons before, but this one really kicked my butt by like half a car length.

Turbo's are bad-ass, but are you really wanting to spend all that money?, A SC is soooo much cheaper isn't it? but hey, if you got the $$$ go for it. Could always do a PI head-swap to make it up there with the 99+ mustangs. I had a 96 once too, hard getting power out of em, so I bought a n2O kit but never put it on because I had to sell it being my motor died on me, so I sold the car.

To be honest i love the sound of turbos and when it spools up and you feel all that power its just amazing. I have a friend that has a buick GN, its an awesome car, and eats rice all day.

If you get a turbo, I would change gears to either 3.27s or 3.55s. The hp twin kit for 4.6 are nice looking but really high. Someone was trying to sell his single, minus turbo on here the other day. Just search the 4.6 talk section.

edit. It is for a 01 I think. Not sure if that will fit your car.

go to http://www.turbomustangs.com/smf/ and search. I would search real good before you ask anything though. They get real upset.

Personally, I would switch up motors. The 2v in your 96gt wont get you near as far with that much money as it would in a 4v. Plus, those engines are MUCH stronger, and can hold high hp numbers easier than the 2v. Just my $.02.

go to that website and do aloooot of reading. a turbo stang is alot of reward but it takes alot of work. you will want 3.55-3.73's for sure and look to make 400rwhp max without a new forged engine. some forged cars with the hellion twin kit are pushing some serious power. the hellion kit is the one i would get.

I'm not sure. I know the mach engines are just a better 99cobra engine with a shaker hood and an optional automatic. The 4v blocks themselves are quite a bit more expensive than a 2v, but they can hold nearly 200hp more, and make about 275whp completely stock. I've heard of people dropping in an 2003 motor/t56 for around 7k or so. That wouldn't be too bad, since with the next 1500 or so you could use to get the thing to a safe tune of nearly 500whp on a VERY strong engine. The Cast Iron 4v are strong, but they do weigh a lot more than the aluminum blocks in the other cobras. I personally like the 96-98 italian made aluminum blocks. I have seen them run nearly 800hp with built internals and stock block. Very Impressive IMO. :SNSign:

Don't be mad the srt-4 smoked you. That's normal for a stock stang to lose to them. Just like if you get smoked by a Z06, that's just the way it is.

I would (and am) getting the HP stage 1 tt kit. Supposedly, the 6psi wastegate will give you ~400rwhp/450tq .. that's the lowest you can set it at. Think of the potential with a built engine.

The HP kit is twin, and costs LESS than the Hellion SINGLE kit (6,300 on the site, but any dealer can get you it cheaper.)

Change the wastegate spring and you could be up in the 800hp range easy. Plus you get the cool BOV sound.

OK heres your problem....you have a 96GT with stock engine. A good Turbo kit is like 6,000 dollars...and when installed on your car as is would still be choked off after 4500rpms just like a blower. Your intake and cams are junk from the factory. They just blow! My suggestion is to get a Kenne Bell supercharger ( that will replace the crappy intake) and a set of better cams. That will add like 150 hp to your car. If you have money left over you can get your heads ported or get your shortblock built (forged). TT's are nice but very expensive at this point for our cars.

keep your 4.10's if you don't want to swap them out, just run a taller tire. thats a much easier way to change the overall gearing. why go thru all the trouble to swap the gears out.. thats just silly.
