I am buying a 2012 Mustang GT very soon and was wondering if paying the extra 3500 for the GT Premium is worth it? I wanted to see everyone's opinion on this. I really like the ambient lighting and the leather seats, this is why I am considering it.

It's gotta be worth it to YOU. Nobody else is going to pay for it for you. Lighting, leather seats, nicer interior accents, 500 watt Shaker audio, Sync...it was worth it for me. It just felt like a much nicer interior to me...and that's where I spend a lot of time. If you like it and if you can afford it, get it. If you can not afford it, there is nothing wrong with the non-premium GTs - they run just as strong!

I really do like the ambient lighting and the shaker 500 audio system upgrade. I think those two and the leather seats really make the mustang that much nicer. Before my 2006 GTO I had a 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0 turbo and the cloth seats were nice but not as nice as having leather. I might go and get the comfort package as well. I mean I plan on keeping the car awhile, mind as well get everything I want now. How is the low end torque on your 2011 GT? Is it an auto or a manual?

That was my philosophy - didn't want to compromise if I didn't have to. I got the comfort package primarily for my wife. This way I can keep the car cooler the way I like it and she can just fire up the butt warmer and be happy. I also got the back-up camera (which I originally didn't want). I got a fantastic deal on a car that had EVERYTHING I wanted in my colors PLUS the back-up camera. I've come to love the stupid thing (invaluable).

I have a 6-speed manual with 3.73's. Low-end torque is...NIIIIICE! I'm constantly amazed and how smoothly and quickly the car gets up to dangerous speeds

Awesome that is what I want to hear. My 2006 LS2 gto is very quick so I was immediately impressed when I saw the curb weight and the hp #'s on the 5.0 Mustangs. They weigh less and put out more hp and tq. I cannot wait to test drive one! I think the 3.73 or the 3.55's are where I am going to go also. This will be my daily driver so decent gas mileage would be nice. haha DO you think I should take advantage of the year end and x-mas sales now or wait to buy in the Spring when the 2013's come out?

That would be a matter of preference. If you really like the new style on the 2013, wait for those. I believe there is a modest power bump as well (I think that is the only performance difference). If you are indifferent, definitely get a great deal on a 2012! I got mine after they stopped taking orders for 2011's. My choices were find a 2011 with the colors and options I wanted or order a 2012. I got some SERIOUS discounts on the 2011 and it was exactly what I wanted. For me, there was no incentive to wait for a 2012 - though I would have if I couldn't get exactly what I wanted (no compromises).

This is what I am thinking. When they release the 2013 mustangs they will discount the 2012's just like they did with your 2011. If you do not mind e asking what did you pay for your 2011 and what options did you get? I know the 2013's look a little more agressive and might have an additional 10 hp or so but I do not think it is that much of a difference to make me want to pay more.

2011 Mustang GT Premium (401A), 6M, Brembo Package, 3.73's, Comfort Package, HID's/Security, Back-up Camera. I believe it listed for $38,500. I got it for $32,700 with X-plan plus incentives and discount coupon.

Thats sweet man. I am hoping that the 2012's will do the same thing in the Spring. I wish I could buy one now but I dont think I am going to get the price I am looking for.

Don't forget the Premium Package will help your resale value later on. When I went shopping for a used Mustang, I passed on all of the cloth seat models. But that's just my opinion. If others are OK with cloth seats, power to 'em.
