Hello everyone, To make a long story short... A few years ago (5) I put an accel 300+ ignition kit in my 89 5.0. I sold the car and an engine shop rebuilt the motor. I just recently bought the car back. Tonight I decided to straighten up some of the wiring as it looks a little ratty. I pulled all the plugs to the ignintion and labeled them. Then straightend the wiring. When I went to put it all back together the iginion box has no way of tying into the wiring loom. There is one green wire that is not connected to anything. All the plugs are correct. It seems to be running off the original ignition system. Does anyone have a diagram of the 300+system? Or some pictures? Or maybe you could look at your car and see what im missing? Thanks Colin.

The Accel box is supposed to have a power wire, a ground wire, and 4 more wires that basically connect it between the coil and the coil plug from the engine harness. If you go to www.accel-ignition.com you can download the wiring diagram.

No problem! I love my Accel, because it has a built-in rev limiter, and it's smaller than the MSD. It fits between my battery and the rad support (!)

Ok well I figured out why they had it disconnected! The car now turns over but will not fire? Any ideas? For some reason it doesnt get spark now? Could the 300+ box be bad?

The best thing to do is to disconnect the box and try to run it with just the stock module and the Accel coil. If it works this way, then the box is bad or not wired correctly. If there's still no spark, then see if you have any codes.

The car runs on the stock set up with the accel coil. Im positive its wired correctly not much you can mess up there. I will check the ground otherwise its gotta be the box. There is a repair # on the back so I might have to send it in. Thanks again.

Ok. Make sure you check the fuse too. I don't know if yours came with one but mine did. It's 10 amps in a weatherproof fuseholder. It's mounted above the box in the picture. Also, make sure switch #4 is down. You have to pull the end cover off the box, the one opposite the wiring.

All four switches are down. The limiter is set and the fuse is good.

Alright, do you have a full 12v coming into the fuse on the box? Also, I noticed on the Accel site that the box itself must be grounded, not just the wire. Is the Accel harness untouched, or is it cut and spliced back together? Check any splices that were made, even if they're yours. Someone could have messed with them after you sold the car. If these things are ok then the box must be bad. I hope you sent in your resigration card...
