I've got a chance to pick up a Navigator shortblock that a friend was going to use as a project. It has the stock forged crank and forged manley rods. I have a set of ported and cammed PI heads that I was thinking of bolting up to it and have a nasty 5.4l 2V. What I needed to know is what else besides pistons do I need to put it in my engine bay? Do I need a new front cover, will the crank sprockets for the timing chain line up o.k. ?

I thought the navigator had the 32v 5.4? If so I'd like to see how it fits, the 32v 4.6 is quite a tight fit as it is.

I didn't even see the part about you having the PI heads for it. The reason I was curious was I'd like to use a 5.4 DOHC engine when I pay off the mustang and just turn it into a weekend car. Good luck with it though, keep us posted

I know thw 4V Navi motor fits in the bay, vey tightly, but it fits. I just wanted to know what difference there is between the regular 2V block and the 4V block if any.

5.0&SF did a 5.4 swap for the Cobra R clone they built. I remember reading that it fit width wise fine but the deck height is taller so the stock hood probably wouldnt work.
