Need input on fixing my dashboard lights

I have noticed that when I turn on my parking lights that all my lights come on (headlights), and my instrument panel doesn't light up. After searching on here and one other fourm I came to only one conclusion about my instrument panel that my dimmer switch was bad. When I actually went to look for myself what was wrong I found a even worse problem. A bunch of my wires that go to my dimmer switch and head light switch were fried or fired together! :( was the look on my face, and I see why people say rewire the whole chassis. I pulled the wires apart and just hoped that would fix it, and of course it didn't. Oh and fuse number 4 I think keeps blowing out a 25 amp was in it before, and I bet thats bigger than whats suppose dto be in there but thats what was in there when I bought the car.
So I need some suggestions on fixing this problem or I will just go crazy and run a buch of new wires and use lots of relays to get it to work.

lol and those dimmer switches look ancient for a 91.

I think 5oresto sells a replacement harness for the headlight switch if I am not mistanken. As for the dimmer switch you may have to trace them back to a point they aren't melted and solder in new wires. Fuse #4 on my '87 is a 10 amp. The fuse for the dimmer is I believe #13 in my '87 and should be a 5 amp fuse.

How deep is the melting lenght wise? I had a melt down near my vert swithc on my 88. I went to the Junk yard and cut off what I needed then just spliced it in to the old harness with butt connectors and it works great now.

If you need a partial harness, I am just starting to part a 88 4cyl and I imagine that would have the same wires. I could just cut off the headlight harness as far down as possible and send you a switch(s) for a small fee. I have 3 sets of headlight switches for a fox so let me know if you need one of those too. Cheap!

On all the wires that were melted they were melted all the way back into the dash board.
I would rather buy or make a new harness.

The pin configuration is different on 87-89. You need a 90-93 harness end and switch. You can make the 87-89 work. You just have to remove all the wires from the harness end and reinstall them in the matching spot for the older switch.

Drop me an email or PM on how much you want for the GT headlight switch + the headlight connector + all the wires from it <cut a couple inches back>

Thanks :)
