Need manual disc/disc master cylinder recommendations for a '65

I already have manual front discs but want to install rear ones as well. I understand that a different master is needed for disc/disc but I'm concerned about possibe clearance problems. Thanks in advance.

PS. I have a manual cable clutch set up.

I was told to use a 84 SVO mustang master cylinder for my previous brake setup. I have one sitting on my bench right now that needs a new home since the Baer kit came with a new master cylinder. I actually never drove the car with this M.C. and since I bench bleed it and threw the box away I cant return it. If you are interested let me know. $50.00 plus shipping? I spent $89.00

I have that SVO MC in my 67 right now. You are not gonna like it unless you put a power booster on the car. The bore size on that MC is huge which is great because it will drive just about any caliper you can throw at it but the pedal effort for manual brakes with that thing is harsh. I'm gonna convert my car to power using a later (fox) model booster. Power brakes is definately worth it.

84 SVO MC works great on mine and I have a manual 4-disc setup.

No problems not having a power booster.

You can buy a reman. Aluminum SVO MC at any local parts store for under $30 with maybe a $10-15 core charge.

You will have to bend up some new break lines from the MC because it exits to the pasenger side. Also be sure to pick up the brake line adapters because they are bigger than stock out of the SVO MC.

I don't have my rear disc on yet, its still rear drums, but with my 4 piston fronts and rear drums its one hell of a work out to stop the car. And believe me, I've got some strong legs.

My local Autozone can get master cylinders 84 SVO mustang. The guy there said they have a plastic reservoir. Is he right? Anyone got a pic?

Plastic resivior ? No. It looks just like the older ones except a little bigger. Did you get the part number/manufacturer ?

will that SVO master work on 4 wheel drum brakes?

you could make it work. You would need to plumb in a 10psi residual pressure valve into both the front and the rear cicuit. I think the bore size on that MC is a bit large for drum brakes tho.

So then it wouldnt be that great? what kind of booster and master would you reccommend for 4 wheel drums? lol

84 SVO aluminum MC in a 67

Bore of the SVO MC is 1 1/8" or 1 1/16", I dont remember which.

As for drum/drum in a 68, use a 68 drum/drum MC. Changing the MC in that case wont do crap.

The bore size for the 84 SVO is 1 1/8. I believe the 67 disc MC is 1 1/16. In any case, I'd recomend a brake booster from a V8 Mustang from 87-93.
