The stock clutch has finally given out so i'm looking for one that won't kill my wallet too much. I would love to go for the Centerforce but that's way out of my price range right now.

Anybody know what the best clutch for under $220 is and where would be the best place to buy it? Thanks for any help in advance.

I dont know of much you will get for under $220 .
Actually what year is your car ect... I know for an '03 we have an 11" clutch so that knocks us up on the price range a bit. I paid ~$360 for my 11" Spec Stage II. IMO its the best mod I have done to the car . It bites great, no slipping, and its not impossible to press in or let out.

I know you can get a Ford Racing King Cobra Clutch with a throw out bearing for $189 from summit racing. Just an option

Sorry, just a side question for my own reference. How many miles did you get on that clutch?
Thanks
Scott

My friend just installed the king cobra on his 99 mustang gt a day ago. I will find out today how the pedal feels. He only paid 189 for it! Seems cheap to me and as theory has it, its a centerforce with a ford logo on it. Anyone have input if this is true?

I think the King Cobra is made by Valeo (same as the stock one). Not absolutely sure though...

I was able to get 96,000 miles on it before it finally gave out. Car is a 96 GT by the way.

yeah I think so, plus as they resurfaced my flywheel it "hooks" alot faster.
As your clutch is gone, you my might want to get a new flywheel or do what I did(alot cheaper)

What is the difference between these clutches? Performance wise.. And how did you get to 96,000 before your clutch went out, mine is slipping at just under 60,000?

Driving it like a grandma, I would hardly take the car over 2500 RPMs before shifting.

Both of you got great milage out of yours. Mine started slipping around 14,000 miles... I blame a few burnouts, a few side steps, and a few powershifts lol. It wouldnt slip to bad, just every now and then. I got kinda used to it, but whenever my g/f would drive it she didnt know how to compensate for it. I also got tired of all the play in the pedal as well so I went with a Spec Stage II There is like 0 play, and it BITES!!! 2nd best mod Ive done yet to the car!

Just bought spec stange 2 clutch and alum. flywheel. Clutch and flywheel barely came over $500 together. Can't beat e-bay. I'm doing the install myself so no labor . DR's don't contribute to a long lasting clutch.

My stock clutch was done like at 35,000, but then again I learned stick on it and was a senior in high school when I got it, need i say more.. Ford wanted to charge me $1,035 to replace it. I ended up getting a Centerforce Dual Friction for $375 and getting it put it for less than $100. The Centerforce is awesome and i would reccommend it to anyone.
