Need opinions on 31 spline axles, and trac lok....

I have moser and I would buy FRPP if buying again. I had a hard time with the tone rings and had to shim one calipure. the FRPP are about $25 cheaper they were just on backorder when I purchased. I don't know if they would be closer to factory tolerance but I would try it if doing it over again.

as for LS diff you have eaton, detriot tru trac, auburn, trak loc as the main contestants. I would avoid the auburn like the plauge just do to the fact they are not rebuildable. the eaton is a nice unit but it is $400 and breakable. The new three pinion tru trac gets raves from some but it is gear driven and it will have some added noise. the trac lock cost me $194 from summit and is very easy to rebuild with either stock or carbon fiber clutches so it was my choice just do to the fact they are all breakable and it is a nice soild economical choice.

if you can put up with noise the tru trac may be a stronger option I am not sure. the 3 pinion design has not been out too long but I have not seen one scattered yet. does not me it can't be done though.

now if all out strenght is required some will point you to a detroit lokar but I would just run a spool personally. these cars are so light you will proabaly never even rachet the lokar over so save the $250 and just spool it up.

you will also want weld the axle tubes, torque boxes and run a rear girdle if launching the car on sticky tires.

I just put a tru trac in my car about a month ago, along with 3.73's and strange axles. I have zero noticable sounds coming from the rear end. If the tru trac does make noise, it's not much more than stock.
