Need opinions on Nitto 555R drag radials.

I just bought a set and was curious what everyone thinks about these tires. What kind of 60 ft. times can I hope for with these? I have a best 60 ft. of 2.019 on Fuzion ZRI's.:SNSign:
Do they need to be "heat cycled"?

I just bought Nitto NT555R's (305/35/18) and they're grippy. I haven't tested the 60ft. times yet.

I have 315/17's in the rear. My best 60ft is a 1.7 with only 9#'s of pressure in the tires. I don't mind them but I still can't launch over 2000rpm with them or I will bust them loose, even with a good burnout. I like them for the street though. I think for track tires I'll go with some Mickey's next time though and switch them at the track. 555R's will only last you about a year if you like to spin the tires. You don't need to heat cycle them. Just do a very good burnout, they get nice and sticky. Our return road has some loose asphalt chips on it and it sounds like it's raining when your coming back, the tires pick everything up and throw it in your wheel wells.

You should be able to pull 1.8X 60's after a few launches..and maybe better with practice. All I know is that they grip WAY better than street tires . I LOVE mine 315/35/17

my 1.89 60' was done on my 275/50/15 nittor DRs @ 22ish PSI....and im a total newb on the tires...I only ran them on 2 occasions. Im sure I could do alot better with practice.

How tall are those 275/50/15's? I think the 275/40/17's are 25.5", that is what I bought.

HP wise, I am nowhere near your power level! So hopefully I will be able to launch a little harder than 2000rpm.

I wouldn't hold your breath on that one. I had trouble leaving the line off of idle if I give it too much gas when I had the nitto's. This was probably the longest stretch of responses I've seen in a while that have had positive reviews of nitto drags. I personally give them a massive thumbs down. They're great for a long lasting drag radial but they are not by far the best you could get.

I can live with them being just "ok" as a drag radial, as long as they grip better than street radials. What appealed to me was that they seem to have a longer tread life than the other drag radials. That and they are quite a bit cheaper than the others as well.

I used to have 275/40/17 Nitto 555R, they hook up nice with good burn out. Now I got MT ET STREET 275/40/17 and it hooks up like superglue . Now I can launch at 4000 rpm , nittos you can't

So what size rims do you have those on. And what do you have up front?

Now I got Black FR 500 rims 18x9 front and 18 x10 back with BFGoodrich g-Force T/A® KDW NT.

When I go to the track I change mine with stocker 17x 8

Well I got the Nitto's put on yesterday and I have to say i am very impressed! It has been raining here pretty steady for the last two days and these things grip pretty d@mn good on the wet roads. It dried out a little last night and I tried a 2000 rpm dump and they hardly spun at all. With my street tires, that would have resulted in 1st and half of second going up in smoke. They seem to grab and go. Hitting second gear is alot more fun now too! So I guess the only concern I have now is the longevity of them.

^Yes I noticed that as well. Wet roads hook up better with the nittos, than the other 315s did on dry lol....its atleast THAT close. Now if its raining HEAVY like the other day, I had to slow down to 45-50...above that didnt feel safe.
