ok bear with me...

I have an 86 hatch that i put the newer style 1/4 glass on. I am swapping to the 87-93 side mirrors and the trim that goes between the mirrors and 1/4 glass...

I need those plastic retaining things that the trim slides over on each door, they are riveted on and there are 4 per door. What are those called and where can i find them?

thanks,

Drew

Bring a cordless drill to the bone yard and drill them out of an original car. Or if you want new, then check with a local Ford parts dept. You may also try an auto body paint and supply store, as some may carry a similar aftermarket molding clip that might work.

haha you ever tried to drill them out of a car at the boneyard? They are old, brittle and dont take kindly to the drill not matter how slow you go. I tried the paint store and they have something pretty close, they had to order it though

thanks

No, I can't say I have tried. At a resto shop I used to work at, we had these hardware bins that contained replacement clips of almost any kind, for the Big 3. They had anything I ever needed. I can't remember the name of the manufacturer.

Yeah I wasn't really serious about the junkyard, Just trying to give you options. I hope more small overlooked parts like this are reproduced over time though. Good luck with the fitment. :nice:
