need short belt size

Hello , I have a 86 5.0 that i have removed A/C ,& Smog pump
now i only have water pump, ALT , powerstreeing pump
what belt size do i need to make this work
thanks
P.S. i am restoring this car. for a track car only

Check the stickey's ... believe there are short belt routing diagrams for several setups..

It's around 70.5". Get a couple from the parts store and take back the ones that don't fit.

I did the same deletes.I used a 73.5 inch belt.Worked like a charm.

short belts

you did the same, so you still have powersteering and alt on , no smog or A/C
correct. did you have to move you idler ?p.s.
what the other guy said.. stickeys what is that
do you have pics of it ?

Best bet. Take a measuring tape and run it around the pullies as if it were the belt. Then you can get can exact size without buying several.

well just bought a 73.5 inch today and it almost fits.. its about 2 inch's to long(funny never had that problem before)

ya ya . the other guy said he had the same mod and that worked
anyway why do you say 70.5 ?? i ask because as you know every inch make a big diff./ so i dont want to go to small. 73.5 the idler pulls it tight but it hits the belt oin over the water pump
i am thinking 71.5 but if you are sayin you know. then i will get the 70.5 .. i know these belts stretch alot after running them

You simply have to either measure or trial and error it. For example, my car with the 3g alt uses a 74.5" belt that fits perfectly. The 86 GT will have a different size waterpump pulley than 87+ so that will throw it off right there. Somewhere between 70-75 inches will be what you need, you'll have to figure it out for the exact measurement.

what do you mean 3g alt ? you alt pulley diffent size ?
i went i got a 70.5 will post it here in a few mins , going out side to see if it fits

well the 70.5 inch is to short
they have a 71.5 so i guess its back to the store

ok . got ,me a 71.5 and man is it tight. but i got it on. after it breaks in i will put the idler down onto it.
