I have recently purchased a stang and it is in some disrepair. I was wondering if anyone has any links to sites with detailed instructions to pull a motor and put one back in. They are both 5.0's but the one coming out is carburated and the one going in is EFI. The one coming out as a c4 attached to it so i will just swap them out. Only a few things are conected to the motor, like the started, water pump, lower intake manifold with carb, throttle linkage, fuel lines... I have tried asking for some help around my area but noone seems to care, so i will just try to tackle this task by myself. I have a chilton, but would like something that deals more in what i am doing, as apposed to maintenence and repairs. I will update this link again when i get my digital camera back and post some detailed pics. I am asking for a link please, not another person to tell me good luck. I am not trying to come off as a jerk, but thats probably how it sounds.
Thank you for your time and speedy reply.

make sure fuel lines, radiator and heater core lines are out of the way, Also if the car is a/c equipped, raise the compressor out of your way.

Don't really know what else to say other than pay attention to see what all is connected. You didn't give any detail on what car you are working on, whether you are actually swapping to a EFI setup or just using a motor out of a EFI car

the motor in it is carburated and the one goin in is EFI, im not sure if i just want too swap the manifolds and keep it carb, its already set up that way...
If im running carb, i know there isnt that much stuf that needs to be connected.
I know its: fuel line, throttle linkage, shift linkage, cooling lines, and distributor to cold and plugs. What else is there?

also, get the chiltons, or haynes book from autozone or on ebay, will have everything you need, and pics, i just got 3 off ebay for 18 total

not sure if im getting rid of the carb setup just yet, ill let you know

and i have 2 chiltons for that year vehicle, you know of any publication online that i can access for better info on swaps and not maintenence and repair?

First off, you can switch parts off and make the one going in a carb setup if you want this to go very easy. Other wise, you need to make sure you have a computer, wiring harness, and all the other accessiories to make this work. Also, if you've never done this, I would recommend at least a friend that can help. Tranny will still work unless you want to go with a Manual, then you'll need a T-5. Stick with the carb and you'll be much more happy with the performance and the amount of money you'll spend comparied to the EFI setup.

On the flip side from the above post,
I recommend going efi.
It will take more to convert, but I think you would be happier with the finished product.

If you do convert to efi...
Find the wiring diagrams, Autozone has quite a few on line wiring diagrams for our cars. :nice:
Use everything you can from the donor car. This includes fuel pump, computer, injectors, MAF, EVERYTHING.

When you get to having specific questions, I would love to hear them.
I'll help anyway I can. (but it won't be much if you go carb)

Please update us. :SNSign:

I have no links to offer on your swap, but I will say "Good Luck" anyway. :p

if you do the efi swap, i got lots of the stuff, upper and lower, harness , computer and more to trade or sell, i am so in need of carb's stuff, gimmie gimmie gimmie:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :SNSign:

The most important question is. What kind of car are you working on? Is it the 90 lx in "My Garage" link? Unless I missed it, you have neglected to mention the year and make.

I am another one to pick EFI over carb. Better fuel economy, better torque, more efficent power range, etc

Sorry bout that, ya its the little red beater,
aka Project "Trauma" as i have so named it, because when i saw how much was wrong with the motor in it, i almost had to go to the ER!
Anyways, Why do you say that EFi would have better torque? I understand power and fuel econ, but torque? Please explain.
