My son is building a 302, he got over anxious and put the heads back on to soon, and torqued the heads and everything, the motor has not been cranked, but my question is can he still use the head gaskets even though they have been torqued and removed?

Which gaskets did you use?

The ones you want are 9333pt1 if you are using a 302 head, so if you didn't use them, you have an excuse to get them now, they are about 50 bucks.

btw, what kind of heads are you running? iron or alum? gt-40, edelbrock...? the stock gaskets work fine with iron heads until you put boost or squeeze to them, then it's time to step up to the 1006. if you're running alum, i'd recommend 1011-2's, they've worked very well on my N/A 306 with edelbrock rpm's for more than five years...
