Hey everybody! I've been a member of Stangnet for a while, just haven't posted very much. I've owned a 98 cobra, and an 04 cobra in the past and really enjoyed them, but had to sell 'em. Now im back in the market for an SVT and can't decide if I want a 03-04 cobra or save the money and get an '01 cobra.
Most of the 03-04's seem to run atleast $24k and the 01's more like $17k or so.
Here's what I need some help with- OK, one of the 01 cobras that I've found is at a dealership being repaired. Basically the dealership bought the car with a blown motor with the idea of replacing it for cheap and selling it for profit. They ended up finding out that a Ford Rebuilt 01 cobra motor costs well over $6k. So they got the motor and after they got it in they noticed that the tranny was acting up, so now they have a junk yard "low milage" cobra tranny (supposedly costing $1500) in it with a brand new clutch. The car also had some nasty beat up chrome wheels that the dealership took off and put on a brand new set of 17x8 01 silver cobra wheels with new 245/45 continental tires. The only mods I could find on the car are maximum motorsports caster/camber plates, red lowering springs (possibly eibach) and a densecharger intake. The body of it is in pretty good shape with minor scratches, and the interior looks good. It has 55k miles showing on the odometer, and it has a clean title.
The dealer is asking $16,500 for it and claim that they now have over $17k in it before any labor.
What do you guys think? Sound like a good deal? Worth the money?
Any advice would be very helpful!
