I just had my gears installed and chipped to compensate the speedo. Drives excellent and I *love* the change! All of a sudden last night I was on the frwy and the car just died. It seemed as the the computer just shut down. The car was still idleing fine, but all of the gauges shut down and the odometer displayed a bunch of dashes "- - - - - - - - -". I was in gear and there was no throttle and I lost power steering, brakes, and alternator (the lights began to dim). I pulled into the slow lane, killed the ignition, turned it back on, and pop started it and it went back to normal for about 3-5 minutes then did it again. By the time I got home it was cycling about every 10 seconds. This morning I called the shop and they said to bring it in. I decided that it must have something to do with the computer so I pulled it out, re-seated the chip, and re-taped it. (it was duct taped on?) I stuffed the computer back into the kick panel and drove to work (about 18 miles) with no problems at all.
Has anyone seen anything like this before? The chip didn't seem to be loose when I reseated it. I'm going to bring it in and have it looked at but I was curious if anyone had any suggestions or ideas.
