Need some help.

as i was pulling into my driveway this evening, my dad noticed that my reverse lights were on. so i proceeded to check it out and even after turning the car off and then restarting it the lights still stay on. i ran through the gears and they still stayed on.

any suggestions before i get a ticket driving to work tomorrow.:( :nonono:

I cant say exactly without looking at a wiring diagram, but you either have a problem with your back-up switch, or you have a short to power/ground. But I cant say which without looking at a diagram. You have a wiring issue nonetheless.

Very possible the reverse light switch on the trans has failed.

Not hard to change, but hard to reach. It will look like a little spark plug on the side of the transmission with a 2-wire harness plugged into it.

If you have a meter you may want to test it first. Pull the harness off and test for continuity between the two prongs. It should only be closed when in reverse and open in neutral or any other gear. If it's closed in all gears, replace the switch (don't remove it and drive the car to the dealership, fluid will come out of the hole)
