Hey guys, Im outside right now trying to hook up a horn cause my car never had one in it. The problem is i just bought a new horn and hooked everything up and now the horn will not stop beeping!!!!!! it only stops if i disconnect the horn pad on the steering wheel. Does that mean i need a new horn pad or is it worse then that? Any help asap would be greatly appreciated (inspection is soon).

Had the same problem myself. What is most likely happening is that the foam that seperates the two metal contacts in the horn pad is so old and rotten that it won't keep them apart anymore, which is why your horn is stuck on. I fixed mine by putting a few cotton balls inbetween the contact pads and it works fine.

Your car DID have a horn at one time or another - plain and simple, What happens is the the foam inside the horn pad just deteriorates and what happens is the two metal plates (all it is is a very simple 2 plate metal contact switch) just rest on one another. SO, the easy way you can fix this is pick a very thin material that has a nice cushion and compresses fairly well (the stiffer then the harder it will be to push on the pad to make it work). Then take apart your horn cover and then cut the material to the shape of the cover, then cut out places on the material you picked where the metal bumps contact the other plate. Put it together and you have essentially rebuilt your horn pad lol
