Not being an electrical whiz, I figured someone here would know. Recently got this car, its a 92 GT and it has a Sony Explod head unit. Works fine, but loses the memory every time the car is shut off. Loses presets, time, everything. Have it out now and really dont even know where to start looking. Is there a wire that goes to the battery that keeps constant electricity that Im missing? Any info appreciated, the faster the better, want to get it back into the car. TIA

I cant remember exactly but I beleive there are 3 main wires and the rest are for the speakers. The first wire which I beleive is red is constant and the there is a blue or yellow (not sure of color) which goes to remote (in other words, IGNITION) then there is a black which is ground. I think your problem is that the remote wire and the CONSTANT 12v wire are spliced together directly to the ignition (remote) and that would explain why you lose memory because it only gets 12v when the ignition is on. You have to undo that RED wire (constant 12v) from the splice and find a Constant 12v wire (make sure key is off) with your volt meter and tap in to that one. Then your done. dont worry, that doesnt mean your radio will be on all the time. It will work with your ignition cause thats what the remote wire is for. This will make it so you dont lose your presets cause you will have constant power to the memory bank. Sorry for the long post
