ok, ive tried mass air conversion twice before. neither worked. first was pieced together, a9l, complete harness, ect. second one was the ford converson.

my sd harness now is screwed up. i've read the tech jricher posts, but it doesnt comply with mine. for example, pin 9 and 50 are supposed to be empty, pin 50 is not. my harness is also not in the best shape, so i'd like to get some advice.

i want to do mass air again. my car is running like crap, and i think a big part of it is due to the speed density complications im having, either way it will be easier for me to do my heads/cam in a few months.

if i buy an 89 complete harness, a9l, ect. what exactly do i need to splice? not the 4 wire ones for 30 bucks that go from the mass air meter to the computer, i mean the entire harness.

the last time we did that, my fuel pump wouldnt turn on, but everything else seemed to work. so do i need to splice my fuel relay into something? id like any information possible as any conversion involving me keeping the sd harness/computer hasnt worked. so i just want to get an entire new harness and comp again.

thanks for any help

The 89 harness will fit 87-89 with no mods. All you should need to do is to mount the MAF, connect the cables, & install the new computer.

See http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiB..._us/0900823d/80/19/59/5a/0900823d8019595a.jsp for 89-93 wiring diagrams.

you do need to splice a wire into the fuel pump relay and run it to the ecu. When I did my conversion, I followed these instructions and everything worked perfectly.

thanks for the replies.

just so im completely clear on it this time, i looked at that conversion diagram before.

i get an 89 harness, and an a9l computer. install the harness, connect it to computer, and i run a wire from the pink/black wire on the pump harness to pin 19 on the connector and im done? (i have a mass air meter, inlet tube, ect already installed)

sorry for the dumbass obvious question, but ive had 2 kits before and they didnt work for unexplainable reasons. just want to make absolutely sure this is going to work out, dont have the extra money laying around to mess with if it doesnt work this time.
