I'm about ready to start on building my 302 and need some info. I've been trying to read as much as possible, but still not sure.
I'm looking at a 347 kit. I may even consider the 331 if to many problems with the 347. Does the block require notching? What about oil consumption, since i've read some kits have the wrist pin in the oil ring area?
As far as heads i see GT-40P's around, but what about plug/header problems that i've read? I'm also considering the Y303's, problems?
I've got a set of C80E's but i'd like a little more performance.
The car will mainly be street, maybe occasional dragstrip use. The block is already .030 over, but it only has about 8,000 miles on it so a hone should clean it up enough.
Thanks

My engine is a 347 stroker. Yes you do have to notch the block but no big deal for the machine shop, cost me 40.oo to have done. Im running Edelbrock RPM heads, no problems with any clearances. Get the stroker kit that does not have the oil ring intersecting the pin and you will have NO oil problems.

I am running ported TFS heads on my 331 (5.0 block).

I have no problems with mine thus far. It is great. Revs high, shounds evil at 7000 rpm.

I am just having traction problems at the strip, but that is to be expected.

I bought my kit from "THE MUSTANG DEPOT" .
They have some of there kits on ebay, search "stroker kit".
Go to there online store and pic a kit that you want then call them and tell them the pistons you want. ask them if that pistons oil ring intersects the pin. Do your research, ask them for the manufacture name and part number then look it up online. write everything down that you want then call them back and they will put together a kit for you. Get a main stud girdle also and tell them you want ARP studs with it or you might get studs that have no name. Get everything balanced it cheap insurance and it will rev faster.
This is a good company but you have to know what you want, read everything and ask questions.
