Ok guys I need a little bit of help here. I am in a pickle as to what I want to do with the mustang and here are the options:

1. MMR boss 302 long block (staying 2v) with the 2.1KB and spray the heck out of it at 14psi and methanol.

2. MMR 900 4.6 2v and go turbo without nitrous.

Now here are the reasons behind all my thinking. the first being is I do option 2 then I would have the KB on the car still for god knows how long due to me needing to spend an Extra 6 grand on the turbo kit. (hellion BTW) Or I just go with the 5.0 motor from mmr and stay on the KB get everything I can out of that KB and add on the bottle.

So really its all about do I want everything I can get now or just settle with the KB maxed out and pretty much everything the 4.6 has in it. Not sure how much HP the difference between going with the boss 302 and staying 4.6 will be but I would imagine it would be good for around 50HP....

So what do my fellow stangneters think?

I think you should sell me the Kenne Bell and go turbo

I'd say turbo with the MMR900. Has more potential without having to constantly refill methanol and nitrous bottles.

What heads are you going with?

actually I will keep that in mind if you really want it and i decide to go turbo. I am thinking I would let the kit go for about 2500. this would be the intercooled kit with a 9psi 11psi and 14psi pulley. But I will keep you posted if you would like...

well I will be on stock heads for a bit till i gathered up more money and then go with a set of trickflow heads. I am trying to go after 800rwhp. so I will be going with a return style fuel system as well.

You just answered your own question. You'll max out the 2.1 KB @ ~500-510rwhp on stock heads, give a little more for the boss block and your boltons. It is going to take lots of nitrous to fill in the gap. It doesn't seem like you are going to make it with option 1.

The turbo option is going to take you farther and obviously be much more expensive. If you are serious about your goal than between your two options I would pick option 2.

But.... what about an intermediate option, "option 3"- swap out the 2.1L KB for a bigger 2.6L KB, spray as needed. Should be cheaper than option 2.

lol i have thought about option 3 but option 1 i was talking like 200+ shot of nitrous hahaha i have 300 shot jets that came with my plate kit that i have been dying to try! lol. but actually the 2.6kb isnt any cheaper than the hellion turbo system. by the time you get the drive system and all for the 2.6KB you are paying the exact amount of a hellion single turbo. I believe it costs 5400 for the bigger kb and 5900 for the turbo system. and the drive system is like an additional 400 dollars.

so i have considered it but if i am going to swap the power adder for something bigger i would do turbo. kb is fun but turbo would be nastier especially with the MPG savings! I envy my brothers 350z TT he gets 5mpg better on the highway than he did when it was stock. he is hitting 31mpg and he made 430rwhp on a mustang dyno at 8psi lol.

after he made those numbers and gets that mpg im jealous

yep ill def keep you posted. 2500 is as high as i would set the price. it would only drop from there depending on what pieces of the kenne bell I am able to take off of the car when i swap over to turbo. I mean you would get all of the main pieces, blower, intercooler, intake, pullies. just not sure what wiring i would be able to give you cause it would probably be butchered when i take it out. so i wouldnt want you to buy the kit off me and then have you hunt down hundreds of dollars of parts and then it coming out to about the same price as a brand new kit lol

Im not an *** like that lol

lol, your in the same type of predicament im going to be in... although, i cant justify spending any more money on a different type of forced induction. so what i would like to do is an mmr boss block, with stage 3 trickflow heads, stage 3 blower cams probably from mhs for the trickflow heads, gasket match my 2.1's manifold, go with turbocooker's 2.1 intake (its on modularfords kennebell section, MPH used it), a bigger crank pulley and small 2.1 pulley (all that should be good for 18 - 20 psi on a 2.1), then spray the **** out of it with nitrous and meth.

obviously at that point the rest of the drivetrain needs to be done, so i would go with either a viper spec t-56, or tko600, mcleod twin disc clutch, fully built rear w/ 3.73's

oh, and a return style fuel system, i like mmr's personally.

granted it would suck to have to refill the meth and nitrous, but i have a switch chip, so i would save that for the track. even without spray, i think it would be around 600 or more at the wheels...

I feel that buying the boss block with a maxed out 14psi kenne bell is like building a high rpm HCI factory stock motor and using stock headers or airbox. And use nitrous and methanol to cure the bottleneck.

But I understand that we're not all millionaires. You already have a fast car be happy with what you've got.

see thats how i feel if you get 600 on the street you have tons of power! then when you want more arm the system and go. probably would be much quicker than a turbo anyways. the turbo cars run strong up top certainly but it would have a lot of catching up to do against a big shot of nitrous car and supercharged lol. especially when you run a dual bottle set up to make sure you hold pressure throughout the run

besides nobody has really seen what these 2.1 blowers can do and i feel that upgraded to a 2.6 is kind of a waste. you spend say 9 grand to get the car to 600+ at the wheels when instead you keep the 2.1 and give it all it has. most guys on the 2.6 at 20 psi are making around 630rwhp. the kit itself with the parts needed to get it on (drive system etc.) is about 6 grand then you need a new hood and paint it, then to get the 600hp numbers you need heads and cams and that runs you about another 2 grand at least! I already spent 5 grand on my kb kit and wont get that money back so might as well give her hell

but really the way I see it if i chase down the 800hp mark that would not be used on the street so really i dont see much more of a difference with a 500rwhp car for street use drives just fine not jerking or anything and then when i want power flick a few switches and hit a button and I can add a few hundred more and save the extra 8 grand I would need to dump into it to be at that power all the time. i could stick a couple grand into an insane nitrous set up and call it a day for the time being.

yeah, thats how i feel about it too. i would rather keep my 2.1 spin it as far as i can... it would still be a monster... and of course, push a button for an extra 'few' ponies when needed. spending that much money on a shortblock, heads, cams, transmission, diff, other necessary parts, and a good tune will be too much money already. i know for 100% sure that there is no way i would swing another 6k or more on top of that to go with a bigger blower, or turbo set up. it is simply not worth it to me. At that point it would be STUPID fast any how. If you look on the modularfords kennebell forums, there are guys spinning the 2.1 to 20psi, granted, it gets REAL HOT at that pressure and requires a good cool down between runs, but it can be done. I wouldnt spin it quite that high my self, but i dont have any reservations going with a slightly larger crank pulley and the smallest kennebell pulley they sell.

yea i guess its just people that dont like nitrous really. i personally love the stuff the car runs great on the street and can run like a stocker and then arm the system and whoop some tail! easy and very effective.

actually, im not a fan of nitrous myself. the only reason i would use it is because a built motor with all the bells and whistles is only going to make 600 or so rwhp... but if the motor can with stand 900+ rwhp, i want to use it to its full potential. i would do it right, with a dual bottle setup, window switch, etc... but imho, i have always felt that people who spray stock engines are kind of cheating... kind of like giving a track runner some speed before the track meet... i dont like chemically enhanced horsepower... but i would be willing to use it, if all of the other supporting mods are in place.

see i dont view nitrous as chemically enhancing anything. it does the exact same thing any other power adder does...get air into the motor. your just adding oxygen that comes out of a bottle rather than having a turbine pull it out of the air and compress it. you just had some guy or gal at a shop do the compressing all you have to do is push the button and unleash it hahaha
