should i keep going

im new to the 4.6 engine. what i did was put one in my 90 rx7 vert. after weight reduction and the motor i hope to be at 2800 - 3000 lbs. i used the aode trans and have 4.10 gears. i had planned on shorty headers ,intake , plenum ,75mm tb, and spacer, 80 mm maf underdrive pullys ,ac delete ,cams w 6 degree out timing, and some kind of chip or tune. the mtor is from a 96-97 t bird and the pcm is from a 95 crown vic pi. can anyone give me a ball park figure of what my hp will be. i heard these are hard to pull power from.by the way its a 2v.

Maybe stock around 200-215HP

Your biggest HP gain would come by performing a PI-swap by installing heads, cam and intake off an 99+ Mustang or 01+ crown vic. The cams will give you the biggest boost alone.

Unsure how good a crown vic computer would be, but with the PI swap plus additional mods, i would recommend a custom tune over an off-the-shelf chip.

You aren't gonna do it on bolt-ons. You'll need to dig into the motor and replace the heads/cams with ported heads and aftermarket camshafts.

You didn't really pick the best 2V motor to start from. A 99+ 2v from a Mustang would have been better

first of all, unless you are adding some serious power, use a stock maf. forget the throttle body spacer, it pretty much worthless.

and are you sure it will even fit into the Rx7? the 4.6L is a pretty large engine.

Yes,I highly doubt a 4.6L engine with everything else will fit in the engine bay
of a 90 Mazda RX7.

you guys have never heard of an ls1 or an ls6 in an rx7 fc and fd body? its been done many times very successfully. im sure the 4.6 would fit in there no problems. how come you didnt go with an ls1 motor???

i had it laying around . plus i like the mod motors i just didnt think it would be hard to pull power from. i figured in a light car i would be able to give camaros a run for thier money but guess not

here you go

have you ever seen a LS1 next to a 4.6L? the 4.6L is much bigger size wise. the 4.6L is close to the size of a Ford 460ci.

with PI heads, you should be able to run with LS1's. the non-PI heads just suck.
