Need to rebush the car, any suggestions?

I need to replace all of my bushings and the rear leafs along with some other suspension parts. Whats a good kit to use?I want some good to high performance bushings.I also have to replace the upper ball joints so should I just buy some at Autozone, is there a good brand or does it really matter with ball joints?

If you're gonna do the front suspension, get NEW upper and lower control arms. They'll come with the ball joints already installed and they won't be 30 something years old and fatigued with age. Get new spring saddles as well.

I recently put all new front suspension in my '70. The bushings are milodyne material. Everything works great so far. I love the ride and handling. No squeaks or binding that I notice. I haven't used them myself, but I've heard quite a few negative comments about urethane bushings. Just from the second hand comments I've heard, I'd recommend you stay away.

Other materials such as polygraphite, I don't know. Perhaps some others here will weigh in on it. Stock rubber will work, of course it's not a high performance material. :)

If you don't want to keep your car completely stock, I recommend that you do the Shelby drop on the upper A arms. That will improve the handling performance of the car without any other changes.

Another good choice would be mid or reverse eye leaf springs. You probably want to see what other people with your year of car have done.

Lowering the car will help the handling performance quite a bit. Perhaps more than a different bushing material.
