Need to replace fog lights, won't pass inspection

I'm just getting my car safety'd, I bought the car knowing it didn't have fog lights but wasn't worried, certainly didn't think it would fail the safety because of them. Now I am scrambling to find something, you guys had any experience with them? Can I find some at Walmart that will do the trick? they don't look like they are that exclusive.

You *could* just get something and rig it in, but you can get direct replacements from late model resto: Mustang Fog Lights at LRS - Same Day Shipping!

tractor supply tractor lights are similar size............ for quicky fix untill you can order new ones...

I always bought aftermarket ones off ebay cheap.

Failed for no fog lights? But they aren't "required" lights. That makes no sense.

Law states that ANY lights mounted on a vehicle MUST work. I had a fog light burn out while I was being tested... so instead of failing, then running to get a new bulb, then bringing the car back for a retest... I simply unbolted them and passed. Fixed it later when I had time.

I'm in Saskatchewan in Canada and we have the most rigorous safety inspection in all of Canada from what I am told. And yes, if the original equipment had fog lights and a fog light switch they need to be operating.

That law is about one of the dumbest I've heard. I'd look for a another mechanic with an inspection license who accepts financial considerations.

So remove them, pit an lx switch in and claim it's an option delete package and it never had them

i cant believe that if theyre on the car they have to work. i just dont see the danger in having non functional foglights. i guess i just live life on the edge.

I used to run into this issue, when I drove trucks. The law, which is pretty much the same, from state to state is: 'If it is on the vehicle, then it must work.' This meant that all of those extra running board lights, over the cab lights etc etc. all had to work. I think that the advice given here is good. Either get the fog lights fixed, or remove them completely. Either way, you should be just fine. Tell them the holes are for brake cooling ducts! Check that, if you don't actually have the ducts they may fail you for that, lol!! I can't imagine any inspection station checking into what was OE, on a 20 yr old car, and verifying that your car has it installed.

trust me, I'm next door to you, our's is even more stringent. It's so stupid but true.

I ordered a set from The Mustang Shop in Calgary, they were just under $100 shipped which is pretty good. I installed them and tried to turn them on but they didn't work. I am guessing a fuse but I didn't have the time to look.
