New 1968 just added to my collection (dial up users beware)

reen

I have a 2 inch thick binder of receipts documenting the mileage. It is 122k.

I was amazed when we put it up on the lift. A little time and some cleaning and it will shine up real nice. Should be fun.

Nice looking car... It's nice to know there are some people out there who maintain their cars (unlike my cars P.O. s :nonono: )

Good luck with her... what is the option list like? - I see the power steering

from the original (1-26-68) hand written sales receipt:

a/c
auto
P/S
am radio
tinted glass
white wall tires
LH remote control mirror
console
visibility group
power brakes
tilt steering wheel (it works)

It still has the original plates from 1968.

i used to live in humble, but that was 20 years ago. matter of fact that's where i bought my stang as well

yes, it is a small world. i remember when the humble and kingwood football teams used to meet by the bridge over the river on 59 after a friday night football game and beat the crap out of each other. me and some friends went to watch one night and drink beer. it was kind of funny actually. a bunch of jocks beating eact other up, it kind of gave us "heads" a break from it

Wilcrest and Memorial Dr.
Heh! I grew up (3rd through 12th grade) near there. Dairy Ashford between Memorial and Westheimer. Ashford Forest to be specific, just north of Briar Forest way back before it became a through street. My mother still lives just north of I-10 at Kirkwood. I assume you went to Stratford? I got bussed into town near the galeria to Robert E Lee, Hilcroft near Richmond.

I moved away from Houston in 1982 but still go there many times a year to visit friends and family.

actually I went to Memorial High School. :D

nice area to live in. I am moving in a year or two to around Echo lane so my kids can go to Memorial High school when they get to be that age.

Wow - very nicely optioned...- I really think that is THE first '68 I have seen with dog dish hubcaps and painted wheels...
Is it a standard or deluxe interior?
Either way that will be a nice show car/driver.

Wow, very nice car!

I'd be afraid to own something that nice, original, etc. I wouldn't want to park in a public parking lot, or drive down the road and get chips in the paint, etc.

Amazing condition.

Stupid questioin, going to prove my ignorance (never stopped me before)...

Isn't thoroughbred class for concourse restored? This baby belongs in an unrestored class, like the survivor class or something. He'd get his rear end (bumper) handed to him by the $40K-restocost trailer-queens with wheel-wells you could eat off of.

Yeah, thoroughbred is for guys who dig up date-coded marker light bulbs and only use NOS head gaskets, etc. Give this car a scrubdown and it'll fit in nicely in Survivor class.

I always liked checking out the cars in Survivor -- it's not so hard-core competitive. Usually just a bunch of people appreciating each other's beautiful, unrestored cars.

whne did they add the survivor class? this is the first i've heard of it. maybe, i was thinking of something else when i said thoroughbred, i thought there was a class original unrestored cars, that allowed only NOS parts as replacements. maybe i'm combining thoroughbred and survivor in my head. but then again i haven't been to a concourse judged show in over 10 years either

I was there last Saturday for about 20 minutes. I have been making maybe 2-3 a month for the last few months. Meet out there sometime?
