OK I need to figure out how to use this site and post messages, add files and all that cool stuff everyone else knows how to do....

Hello everyone!
I am a new member, and look forward to meeting new people and fellow mustang enthusiasts.
I finally went and got me a 2006 Mustang GT Premium Convertible and its SWEET! I traded in a 2005 V6 Convertible and the performance is no comparison. I loved the 2005 though, she was a good car. Just wanted more performance.
I have 3 questions:
Based off of these specs:
Flowmaster40 series exhaust
C&L cold air intake with custom tune from SCT Xcalibrator 2
Short throw custom Hurst shifter
It is a black on black convertible and a manual 5 spd trans (link below)
20 inch Lexani rims and low profile Toyo proxi4 tires

Would I be better off with the stock 17's I bought it with?
And based off my custom tune with the 20's, would it hurt the car trading out the tires for the 17s everyonce in a while? And finally what would I have to do to get track 12's with the 20's?

Nice car good choice in color, rims not working for me though maybe if they didnt have the snowflake behind the spokes but to each his own

Sounds like a nice car, but I'd skip the 20's.... These cars just don't look right with bigger than 18's in my opinion..

Actually some of the sharpest rims I've seen on a Black S197 were Bullets that had the centers painted black and the outide rim polished like chrome..

I am considering upgrading the rear gears. Anyone have a good suggestion on what to get?

For some reason my pictures arent coming out!

Keep in mind that those tall wheels will serve to soak up some of your effective gear ratio. So if you're planning on sticking with the 20s I'd recommend considering going with a slightly higher (numerical) gear (lower actual ratio). Consider 4.10 or even 4.30 gears.

PS. The black on black looks sharp! Nice choice!

love the blackouts on the lights, not crazy about the wheels however.....

those 20's may even be detrimental(sp?) to performance, im not sure though.

I just gotta have a touch of retro on wheels for these cars. The Saleen wheels are 20's and I don't like them either. Sorry bro'

Well yes it does take away from the performance a bit. I am taking it in to a shop and getting the stock wheels out back on it this week.
Thanks for the blah blakthorn...hehehe.
Oh and I will do something I am sure some people detest, since they like retro. But I think it will really be sweet. I will be installing a Lambo door modification kit in the next couple of weeks, after I lower my ride!!

I would also skip on the 20's. They just add too much unsprung weight. 18's is the highest I would go. Also, if you are going to be switching b/w the 20s and the 17s make sure to adjust for the change using your XCal2 or your speedo will be off. All you need to know is the revolutions per mile of each tire to change it on the XCal2.
