new 3v head flow number from livernois(for you guys wanting power)

The flow numbers in the article are on the 1020 bench so they will be higher when converted to the industry standard 600 numbers.

Its actually pretty funny that we kind of just built the motor in the 05 shop car in about 3 days so it could be in a magazine article.

So far the best number to date is 770RWHP. But we are working on another motor with our next stage of 3 valve heads that should when all is done being going over 300CFM.. We hope with the new stroker motor and the bigger blower to lay down over 900 at the tire.

i brought this to 2v for a comparison. i know everyone is wanting to maximize their power. for the price of stage3 2v's you can wait a little while and get


4v flow in a 3v head. these ports are turning out to be BETTER than 4v in some applications. of course ultimate will always be 4v. but for street cost 3v is taking over. it costs less per hp for 3v.

livernois expects to exceed the magic 300 cfm mark soon. but the real story is the port shape and lack of structures to limit laminar airflow. these heads RAM the air in.
 
s197, but stick these heads on your 4.6 with pistons and you can enjoy big power.

instead of buying expensive ported 2v, even stock 3v murder them. get the intake,front cover and a T/B and run it. they are on ebay from time to time. junk yards already have 3v's.

if you are boosted then look into using your pistons you have now. i haven't looked into that.

that is a nice setup but how much deos the custom headers run you.
 
i paid 350 for them from frpp, i then cut them completely apart, bought ss tubing and tigged them and made collectors, etc. they are similar to 4.6 3v frpp shorties just different tubing routing. and the collectors are oriented different. you have to figure 900 total for the hours (i get $30/hour to weld) and materials. ss tubing runs $60-$80 a stick for "j" bends. it may take 2 or 3 "j" bends to get it right. for just one tube. even so they were always temporary to get this on the road and tested. i put the steppers on the back burner to get the 75mm throttle body ready to run soon. if one of you upgrade just use any 4.6 header with the 3v flange or adapter plates.
 
flat tops should work fine. there arent any reliefs needed. i am not going to pay to get them ported. the articles i have read point to sandroll polish, intake valve shroud layback, valve back cut, and seat opening with 3 angle to get 260-280 cfm.

The exhaust is common sense.

i'm going to mill it .025 for the extra compression and 1 degree retard on cams.

5.0 magazine did the port and picked up heroic power with no other upgrades.
 
SO I could basically go get a junkyard topend off of a 05... clean up the heads and get some cams... (if I wanted)... and be set? I just got my patriots put on,.. but I also know flow is power.. and if I could get this done for about what I could sell my heads and cams it would definatly be worth it. I would even go so far as to say if I could get it done for 1000 over what i get out of my heads and cams.
 
wish i knew this before i got my heads. well its too late now ill have to stick with the choice i made. i think this will be fine for street use.

i mean you can get the power levels pretty high on ported 2 valve with a blower, so i dont think i have to change them. one day if i feel the need to make more power i guess they will be good.

however upping the boost would be way easier, but it would put more strain on the engine then switching the 3 valves.

its great to know but i dont think you need to run right out and switch you heads and cams 01steeda, unless your building a race car:shrug:
