I would love to have one, but I would have to kill my wife first. Anyone know what the sticker price is?

saw a six cylinder in the mall last night, base price on it was 25,8 and as shown was damn near 30k, boss said the new car and driver had a gt as tested at 39k. fords about to price the car into another bracket, too bad they are already two brackets above where i can afford one.
they brought back the 5.0 but not the no-option, striped down car the fox was.
down payment of about 4k would go along way to getting my vert to where i want it, not to mention what full coverage ins would cost on one.

Where the hell are you getting full coverage for less than 400 a year!?
and 13 bucks to register? Illinois just raised their tags to, i think, 90 for regular plates and over 100 for vanity.

Are we missing something here? Everybody knows that a cat back exhaust does nothing for the new cars performance-wise. Must be some serious magical tune to get the car to the point where it is making 7 hp less at the rear wheels than what Ford rated the engine at the flywheel (they are claiming 405 rwhp versus Ford's rating of 412 flywheel).

Well depends on how well the new cats flow vs. the old cats and maybe full length headers. I know i read that Ford claims they'll take the Pepsi challenge with any aftermarket CAI vs. their setup and supposedly the stock headers are part of why the engine is rated at 412hp...i dunno they probably did tune the car at Ford to make the best MPG....i think there's probably a LOT of magic in the variable cams (VTAAAAAAAC!).

Of course it's no secret that Ford underrates their engines. Look at the Terminators that dyno 385hp at the wheels when they're rated at 390hp at the crank.

Correction. A Cat Back did next to nothing for the previous N/A 4.6L cars. These new 5.0L's are making a whole lot more power and have ability to walk it out to much higher RPM than the previous modulars. So I would imagine quite an improvement could be made by freeing up exhaust flow. Look what cat backs have done for the previous '03-'04 Cobra that were in the now new GT's power range? Or even the new GT500's? Seeing power increases of 40-80hp with exhaust and tune were not at all uncommon with these cars....and these new 4-Valve heads outflow both those castings.
