new alternator maybe?

i know my starters been turnin over the motor real slow but theres somethin else wrong here. the motor can turn over if the engines cold but after you run it up to operatin temp and then shut it off it sounds like the batterys dead. im not sure if the alternator needs replacin too or what the deal is but i know a fresh built motor doesnt do that kind of stuff. thanks in advance

your starter is definitely bad. It's probably really old and it just can't take the heat anymore when you try to crank the motor over when everything is hot. I had the exact same problem. You should invest in a hi torque mini starter, they're better than the stock ones. You could get a mini starter off of a salvaged 93. They came stock with mini starters that year.

with your compression, i would think a high torque mini starter and some shielding would be in order.

for the charging system, dont over look dirty grounds. when warm, there can be more resistance.

parts store can check out your charging system.
good luck.
