I have an 88 5.0 LX, and replaced the old alternator with a new 130 amp PA Performance one. I also put in one of their beefy wiring kits.
I'm seeing 12.7V on the battery with the car off, and 12V with the car on.
I tested between the battery + and alternator power out and got 20mV.
Between battery - and alternator casing I got 10mV.
The belt is turning the alternator fine.
So, voltage is low (this might even mean the alternator isn't charging at all? Or would 12V mean charging is just not good enough). But, the other two measurements suggest current could flow fine from alternator to battery.
What else could be wrong?
Thanks.
