I attended a Norwalk rental with a bunch of friends. As usual the track was in pretty decent shape for traction. The temps were not geat - ~80* & ~80% humidity.

I switched back to my stock 16's and bought new 255/50/16 BFG Comp TA dr's. The 315 Nitto's are decent on the street, but at the track just dont hook like I want them to. I think its mostly due to the short 35 series sidewall. Also, the wheel/tire weight is 50lbs for my 17's, so they are pretty heavy.

My previous best was 14.27 @ 97.9 mph, but that was in nearly perfect weather and a 2.1X 60'. My trap speeds in similar weather last year were in the high 96's, so the extra weight of the wheels and rolling resistance of 275/40 fronts & 315/35 rears do make a difference. Anyways, enough babbling here's the slip:

RT........ .959 (didnt really try to cut any good lights today)
60'....... 1.997
330'...... 5.841
1/8....... 9.006
MPH...... 79.12
1000'.... 11.743
1/4.......14.033
MPH..... 98.61

Major mods are as follows:

Offroad h-pipe/2 chamber flows, Underdrive pulleys, MSD Blaster coil, 13* timing, 3.73's, Triax shifter, K&N, aluminum driveshaft.

I plan on going again this weekend, so hopefully with some cooler temps and a MAF I can get a 13.XX before the engine is touched.

i would get a simple throttle body and see if you gain any with that.

Also, try a short belt to bypass your smog..... that alone might see a 13.xx

From what I've read on here the TB is not worth too much until you have at least an intake. For the same amount I'll buy LT's and get a guaranteed 20-30hp.

I'd like to be at mid 13's @ 102mph & 245rwhp/300rwtq with the addition of LT's & MAF. Is 245-250 rwhp asking too much without an intake?

Your probably right about the t-body. But, i was thinking a used one with egr would only run ya about $140ish.
I would get the long tubes too. or atleast some shorties will free up that exhaling exhaust.

Not bad, you can run 13's for sure, my 98 has the same mods as you, minus gears, and timing, and it is traping 97-98 and running 13.7-13.8 NA, so judging by your MPH, you can run 13's, my car went 13.769@97.xx with a 1.899 60ft on 275/40/17 Nittos, keep working on your launch and shifts, you car should be able to do 13's as is.

It should have ran 13's with the Nitto's, but I think that the lowering springs definitely hurt my launches. I just got a Pro-M maf in the mail today and I'm going to the track this weekend when its supposed to be like 60* and no humidity, so hopefully I can get some 13's.

Yes. Edelbrock Performer is 20+rwhp gain on stock heads, cam, TB and MAF. The MAF should help. Don't touch the TB. Get rid of those Nitto's and launch hard on some slicks. With a high 1.7 you would be well into the 13's.

Like I said I did get BFG Comp TA dr's and got some decent short times. I dont really want ET Streets just yet because I dont want to break anything until I'm ready for either the tranny or rear end to go.

there is no way in hell that you could get anywhere near 30 horse with longtubes on a stock motor.

How about with a MAF, cuz I just bought a Pro-M.

Anyways, I dont care if it makes 30hp or 5 hp, if it makes me faster thats all that matters. I only need a tenth at most to run consistent 13.9's.

Yeah, my best that night was 14.035 @ 98.54 mph, but my 60' was up to a 2.024. Milan doesnt prep as well as Norwalk does, and I didnt get ay 1.9 60's all night. I did get my first 8 second 1/8 tho......8.999.

I didnt get a chance to put the MAF on before I went to the track, so I was kinda bummed about that. I'll be back in another couple weeks at most to see if it makes adifference.
