My best time for the night is:::
60' 2.108
330 5.967 @ 58.29
1/8th 9.121 @ 77.69

Keep in mind, this is on my second outing to the track...
Had a horrible run though against a brand new pontiac GTO... I could have beat him damnit!!!!!! missed the 2-3 shift and just lost him... he ran a 9.4@76...
are these good times for my car and current driving ability?

Super, what do you use to convert 1/8th mile times to 1/4? Is it in your head?

Theres a bunch of calculators on the internet. Just type in 1/8th mile conversion in yahoo and you'll get millions of them...

Not bad at all for your 2nd time out. I have a buddy in a 40th GT and he is now cutting 1.9 60fts and his best of 8.9 or so. The GTO you ran was on the slow side. Was a lot of people having traction issues? My buddy in his bone stock auto 04 will run 8.8s. With some practice you can have your times down for sure. Get that 60 ft under 2.0 and you will see some good improvement!

Thanks Doc... I want to get different tires but right now I don't have the money... besides... I'm a little hesitend. I saw a camaro grenade his pump at the track and I'm guessing it's because of sticky tires... he was street driven running in the mid 8's... There was an LT1 (I'm guessing because of his times) running consistent 9.3's @ 76... I wouldn't have minded running him to try and get some bragging rights... pretty sure it was an auto...

Not bad times, almost identical to mine. Your 1/8 actually equates to be a 14.13 or so. Multiply the 1/8 et by 1.55 to determine your 1/4. The GTO ran a 9.4?! That's crap! Aren't they supposed to be faster?

Looks like your running pretty good there. Those times seem right on par with where you should be with those mods. Some D/R's and you could see 13's

You guys think I could hit 13's with slicks? I'm thinking about getting a stickier tire since the ones I have now have just about had it. Can I fit 255's on stock rims? I have 245 50 r16's... Whats a good tire that going to cost less than 150 that I can drive on the street and expect decent life outa it?

Yeah 255's will fit. I run 255 nitto d/r's on my 16 inch waffles for the track. Seems like if you can cut a 1/10 or two off the 60 you are in the 13's for sure.

I think the nitto's are the best d/r if you plan on driving with them on the street quite a bit. they dont hook as well as the BFG's or MT's but you will get more life out of them on the street. For all out traction the other's will perform better but wear quicker.

I guess I was wrong they are only 245's I have. Here's a link. They are charging for shipping now (they didnt used to) but still no tax and I usually have them within 2 days of ordering.

www.tirerack.com the CHEAPEST place for tires I have ever seen.

EDIT: dammit, tirerack doesn't carry Nitto. My fault, but they still have cheap tires.

I had to get into the 8.99's to get y 13.92, otherwise when I ran 9.0's & 9.1's I was in the 14.0-14.2 range. Your mph is nearly identical to mine, so I would expect 98-99mph in the 1.4 mile.

I have 255/50/16 BFG Compt TA dr's on the stock 16's and I have gotten a couple 1.85 60's, unfortunatley I missed/grinded 3rd on both of those great 60's, or else I might have hit a 13.8. My car needs a 1.95 60's to run 13's right now, so get some sticky tires and go run some 8.9's in the 1/8th.

BTW 9.4 is dog slow for a GTO. My frickin Acura runs 9.3 @ 79mph.

Yah, I was wondering what was up with him. I noticed it had 2 small tail pipes off to one side.. wouldn't a motor of that caliber have dual exhaust? Either way, I got his times here. I should have beat him... Thanks for the info on the 13.9 pass... I guess once I get the 8.9 I'm going to have to shoot for 7's... Think the wife would notice a couple grand missing from the bank account?
