I just bought a 95 gt 5 spd converted to like a cobra it has cobra intake 70mm throttle and bigger injectors now the problem is when i go to start my car it starts and then just dies i have to give it gas to stay running then after awhile it will run fine but idle low but when you turn it back off it repeats the same steps anyone have any ideas

Are the MAF and injectors in synch?

It sounds like the idle might need to be reset and the IAC cleaned.

Here is some info about doing so.

Good luck.

You may be running rich from the bigger injectors. Is there a different MAF or is it the factory one? If it's the factory one, that is why you are running rich. You need a MAF cal'ed for it, or get a custom tune.

Have you tried cleaning the maf?

I installed 30lb injectors with a c&l maf caled for 30's, and it runs like crap once you first start it. But after 60-120 seconds, the O2 sensors come online, and the car idles fine. Once I get my tuner I can change the transfer curve to eliminate the hard starts.

So check the iac? is what your saying and clean the maf?

You have a GT right? Is the computer a t4m0 or is it the j4j1?

If he swapped computers too, that would account for the injectors and should work, assuming he put 24's in there.

What kind of MAF is in there? What is it calibrated to? What size injectors are installed?

Im assuming he swapped computers i dont know what size injectors are in it but i knwo their bigger and also its a 70 mm maf... like i said if you start it up it just dies unles you keep your foot on the gas for a minute it stays running till you turn it off again and it does it every time?

cleaned the iac sensor and maf worked for a little bit then went back to doing the same thing ... i guess ill know whats wrong tomarrow when i get it checked out

Current status

Well im still dont know whats up with the car we cleaned the the maf again and it still does it when the car is cold it starts up with no stalls and runs good but when its hott... it just stalls out and you have to give it gas to run then it runs fine... im thinking its a sensor bad somewhere.

We ran codes nothing came up cleaned the iac sensor still have yet to clean the iac itself but it looks new? hmm it has cobra intake injectors and maf and obd2 ecu.... i tried taking it to the performance shop they said they cant run codes caz theirs no check engine and that all they coudl do is clean the iac and see what happens i can do that my self sooo the update is another day depressed trying to find out whats wrong its a little problem but a problem that needs fixed if anyone knows anything to suggest please do thanks...

When you mentioned cobra bits, I assumed scavenged injectors, etc. Scott wisely read more into it with regard to injector calibration. And now we find it has an OBD-II cobra computer in it? Not to be rude, but 94-95's came plumbed with OBD-I and II ALDL's. The V6's got II and GT's got I (in case someone saw the OBD-II port and tried to pull codes).

MUCH more info will need to be given to try and sort this out. Patrick can convey some of the ins and outs of a late model snake motor in a 94-95 chassis (he had one).

Good luck.
