New Clutch Possible Problem

Hey guys just installed a spec stage 3 clutch kit with a spec flywheel in my car. Everytime i go to leave the a light from an idle the car gets wheel hop and chirps the tires a couple of times is this right? Thers no slipping in the clutch at all. Could this be because it is a race type clutch and its a six puck? or because i have 3.55's so theres a little more resistance to get the car moving? Any ideas on what it could be or if its just the way it is. Thanks

The nature of that clutch is probably fairly abrupt engagment. Conversely, an organic disk tends to slip a little so it doesnt allow the rear tires to bite as hard when you take off. There are tons of factors, but on a simple level, that would be my hypothesis.

For the most part, the spec 3 is on or off with little or no giggle time in between. It'll loosen up a little bit with ware but don't expect a huge change. The largest change will come from your getting a good feel for it.

got to love those on off type clutch's when the police are sitting behind you at the light. That was what i found with my CF Dual friction. Mind you as i worn in the clutch it got better. The spec 3 is a more aggressive clutch then the CF so i doubt things are going to change much for you.

2 things.

1. Wheel hop is attributed to you likely having stock rear control arms. Replacing your rear upper and lower control arms should eliminate that wheel hop. You can also replace your quad shocks too. Get a lower arm with polyeurothane at one end, and a spherical bushing at the other.

2. Spec clutches are WAY too much clutch. They're overdesigned POS's. While that on/off feeling is real badass, and feels awesome, you're gonna wreak havoc on your entire driveline. You NEED the clutch to be able to slip a little, or you're gonna start breaking parts, lots of them. I hope you're not running a t5, if you are, baby it with that spec.

I dont have stock rear control arms but my quad shocks are removed. I dont really care about breaking parts becuase its not a daily driver and its not the stock t5 either so im not to worried.

Spec stage 2 is a great clutch IMHO - very streetable and supposedly good up to 500 rwtq. Stage 3 as others have said doesn't have great street manners.
