So almost 2 months ago I had the locaL clutch and tranny shop put in a king cobra clutch kit. I told them that I wanted the the pilot bearing and rear main seal replaced at the same time. They gave me quote and so I took it down to their shop. I asked him about what we had discussed on the phone about the clutc hinstall and pilot bearing and rear main seal and he sai "Dont worry we'll inspect all of that stuff and make sure its good. Sounded wrong but I figured these guys are the pros and thats how its done. Any ways about 1 month into the new clutch I started hearing a clicking cound coming from the clutch area only when id depressed the clutchc pedal. This continued but was only somtimes. I also noticed somtimes second gear wouldnt go in and wheni revved my car in first or third and switheced to second or fourth i would get a wicked vibration through the stick with a slight growl. Finally the other day im going through my parking lot at work and as im coming to a stop before a speed bump I hewra grinding scraping noise as i push the clutch in and coast in first gear. I go rite up to the shop it was installed at and they say something is broken on the clutch and they need to drop the tranny and get in there. They said if it was because of the install they would cover it but that it could be something else unrelated( out of my pocket). So they call me back and say my pilot bearing is completely destroyed( I asked them to replace it , at the minimum they should have inspected it ) . I asked what caused that and he said it was my input shaft had too much play and thats the reason. So they say i need a new input shaft and two bearing in the tranny. They are claiming it is from wear and tear and that i have to eat it . $650 was the damage. Do you guys think it was installation error and thats what fuct my tranny and pilot bearing up or what? Sorry for long post . Any feedback would be appreciatedd . thanks
