hi,
I was wondering if i can get some opinions on a clutch replacement. My throw out bearing is bad in my 97 Gt and since in going to be down ther already i thought i may as well change the clutch. My car is not heavily modded but eventually i plan on doing some heavy work. I was looking at the king cobra clutch or spec stage 1, the only thing is ive heard some cons on the king cobra about it heating up really quick and beginning to slip. The only thing ive heard about the spec is that ther is some chatter but it usually goes away after the break in period. I use it as a daily driver and sometimes i go to the track. any information would be helpful.

I used to run a King Cobra. I had the same prob with it slipping but only under certain conditions. If I was on the strip in Panama City Beach Florida and it was really packed all you could do was sit there and idle, creep up a few feet and then sit there. After 15-20 min it would begin to slip really bad and I would have to turn off and take back roads for a while. After a few miles it would start gripping again. I know this would be rough on any clutch but I have been going there for years and the King Cobra is the only one that ever did this. I have had a Zoom and now I have a Centerforce with no problems out of either.

I have a SPEC stage 3 that did alot of chattering when I 1st got it but only when I was taking off from a dead stop during regular driving. Nowadays, it still does unless I take off properly.

those king cobras are not the bang for the buck they use to be $275-$325

what do you mean by heavy work

it seems some say the higher stage specs are a bit off/on switch which i hate
but i never used one and opinions will vary
