We were looking for a 4.0l 4x4 ranger, but if you looked at the links I posted earlier for prices, you'd soon find out that a ranger in decent shape is more than 3 times the price. The Canadian/American currency conversion as well as difference in prices seems to be very hard for a couple of you to comprehend, I'll try to dumb it down to your level

its because we need them to tow trailers, some things wouldn't get to work with out our trucks, its our job. or maybe its the fact that we have a boat and jetskis???? i can think of lots of reasons that people have trucks.

Toyota and Hondas may have several cars built in America...but they get their steel for their parts from China. To hell with that. Hondas good cars but toyota is overpriced, pain in the ass to work on, pile of crap.

Heres my friends DD, Used to be his moms. hahaha Its the biggest peice of crap but the only thing that has broken is a ball joint. Hasnt touched the thing mechanically in a long long time. The suspension is so shot but the thing wont break. hahah

just to throw in my 2 cents, i drive a 1990 f150 as a dd, never really have had a major problem with it, lost one water pump (never changed the coolant), an alternator once, and the power locks dont work. but it does get 14-17mpg, rides nice, is friggin awesome in bad weather (and its 2wd open diff) and i can load it up with as much junk as i want without fear of getting stranded (unlike the stang, which is sick right now from a broken OD band, but its never had to be towed). we also have an 01 24v sable (built in iowa btw) whose only issue was a sensor in either the coolant overflow or washer reservoir (dont even know why thered be sensors there), and an 05 ranger that lately gets loaded up even more than my truck. fact is, i see more old buicks, ponitiacs, luminas, escorts, explorers, etc than i see old hondas and toyotas around here. thats gotta tell you something.

No offense... but that probably points to a lower educated part of the country.

Its been known that areas of "Higher Educated" people (aka college degrees and etc) are more stocked with imports such as honda and toyota.

It could mean they can afford those or they make better choices as far as cars go.

(i.e. Total cost vs cost of maintence/repairs, gas, resell value) All of which the import market has a large advantage.

The little pos 95 lumina with 150k on it MIGHT bring in 1,200 bucks if ur lucky..

where a 95 Honda anything with 150k is still selling for 4-5k.

acutally, i bet it really has more to do with size. in the big cities where theres less room, a smaller car makes sense. i doubt very much that its an 'education" problem, the more "educated" people will be driving bimmers and volvos and saabs and such from across the other ocean, at least around here. to me it just seems like a lot of people go import just because theyve been told that theyre better, when you can get a domestic in the same class, comparable mileage, features, and build quality, for a comparable price.

I personally havent seen a domestic with the same build qualities as most imports.. and I DEF havent seen one with comparable re-sell values.. thats for sure.

BTW, the import trucks, suvs, and etc common and getting very large so I dont really believe is the "size" issues.

The anti import people, just make themselves look uneducated about the products they talk about.

I will be in the market for a smaller sedan very soon. I need 4 doors, manual tranny, good build quality, and all the options. The funny thing is, in the price range Im looking in, there is not a single American car! Not ONE I can even go look at! America (or what you guys call America) is losing a customer right here because they produce mainly crap. Worse quality, horrible styling, same prices, and less options and variations. I will always have a Mustang, or American muscle car of sorts, and if I go truck it will most likely be American, but I can tell you that if you live only with Amercian brands, you limit yourself by your ignorance!

And if you think you need a truck to tow jetskis... you must have a lot of jetskis!
