Is this due to the distributor gear contamination you had a month ago?

If you can swing it I'd go 351 stroker. You can do a basic setup cheaper than you think. You dont always have to have the best of everything. You can have an economical setup that works great and lasts.

Greg I am actually looking at Lightning Block 351W with Gt-40 heads and intake.

Brand new motor, pan to harness 3700$ with 12000 Mile Warranty.

trying get the the specs on the compression ratio and cam right now because i would like to throw a Vortech on it down the road.

That or going .30over on my stock block with built internals and ARP everthing.

Or a DSS 331.

So many options but i want a good foundation for boost down the road. 351w i hear is pretty strong.

That's about the size of the engine in my new Yaris

I've always wanted to do a 351 swap, trying to keep it under a stock hood...

looks like 351w isnt gonna work. I believe a forged 331 may be the route.

Joey:

Why do you say a 351 is not possible??? I just put a 408 stroker into my Foxbody... Took a hell of a lot longer than I anticipated, but works nonetheless... I'm in Snohomish if you want to drop by and see it sometime... As for the engine bay... Are you going to completely finish it by welding all the holes, or are you just looking for some paint on it? If just paint -- as much as I hate to say it -- a rattle can will make it look 100% better... Not sure that I would spend the $$ on painting the bay unless you are going to completely finish it with a weld job and some smoothing...

Good luck with your project and hope to heck it goes quicker than mine did!!!!

I know a 351 is possible i just decided not to go that route. I think im just gonna have the block cleaned out and bored over to a 306. Gonna throw in some new pistons and rings, with some ARP Rod bolts and Maingirdle. Cometic head Gaskets with ARP Head studs. Some AFRs' with a cam and manifold with supporting mods. Kind of on a budget.

Keep in mind by the time you get your stock crank turned and buy aftermarket rods (it’s cheaper than “fixing” your old rods) to go along with your new pistons it costs about the same as a decent entry level stroker kit.

No reason to go 331 unless you are limited by class racing rules or airflow (but you said afr heads so I don’t think that is the case.

And depending on what you are looking to do a 351 really is a pretty good idea, and doesn’t cost as much as people think.
