my 05 GT was totalled last week and i am going to get a 06 GT tomarrow, but im gonna need another exhaust system for it, i had flows on the 05 but they were to quite, so i am lookin at eaither MAC or borla stingers, but i heard the drone with the MACs is pretty bad, but i know the borlas drone alot too, so i was wondering which ones drone the worse??

I have the same setup! I had MACS and a OR X, sounded horrible! This setup is the way to go!

I've had both MAC and the stingers. Bought the stingers originally, then bought the MAC's now I have stingers again. Enough said.

As far as drone goes, they're both about the same. I would say MAC is worse though. I have full exhaust with the stingers and drone doesn't bother me at all, in fact I love how the car sounds in the 2000 RPM range.

why did you like the stingers better than the MACs?

Rather than create another exhaust thread ... I'm sure most won't mind if I hijack this one a bit. Sorry to the OP.

I was browsing through the sticky to get ideas on exhaust setups myself.(06 GT).

I used to have an '03 GT with the Steeda SS cat back setup ... loved it, but it coulda been louder! I guess that's the reason why I'm partial to Borla products this time around? Most likely. I was looking at the stingers until I saw the advice in what I quoted above, a few times. I will watch the youtube clips once I get outta work ... can't access the site here.

I don't expect anything to sound similar to my old 2V, but I just want a deeper/more throaty exhaust, like many on here.

My question, and I'm sure that even the sub atomic particles of this dead horse have been beaten to smithereens. How do I get around laws? Particularly the one about removing perfectly good cats, to get a decent mid pipe. I live in PA, so if any locals can help me out here ... I'd be mucho appreciative.

I don't care for the tinny sound of the MACs at WOT. Literally sounds like your shaking a beer can full of buckshot really fast. They sound good otherwise.

MAC is louder in the lower rpms, stingers are stealthy in the lower rpm's yet scream up top.

I THINK the MACs drone worse but I can't remember. Drone isn't an issue for me, I feel like the car drones less since installing the LT's.

I think chambered mufflers will always drone worse. I had a 98 GT with o/r pipe and flowmaster 40's and it droned like mad.

I kind of like it though. If your really concerned about drone you might want to consider something else. The stingers and MAC are about the loudest/deepest mufflers out there. Anything loud and deep will drone.

ok well i think im gonna go with the stingers, i am looking for something louder than flowmasters but not as loud as loudmouths. so do you think the stingers would be a good choice. because i have heard loudmouths in person and they are a little too loud. so are loudmouth alot louder than stingers?

I've never heard loudmouths in person with a stock h pipe but the stingers should be a good bit more quiet and much deeper. The stingers aren't that loud with the stock h pipe IMO but they are very deep.

If you don't like drone, get Corsas. I got mine and replaced my Magnaflow Magnapaks, which droned badly at 2K rpm. Now I have muscle car idle and sound when I want it and especially at WOT, without the drone I don't want. But, will cost you around $600, but there's no better solution that I've found.

johnbleakleyford.com has them for under $400. That's the FRPP stingers, same thing.

They're a big FRPP dealer in Atlanta.
