Today while I was cleaning out my engine bay (while my motor is out) I noticed I have a severely smashed fuel line. I have been trying to look at different options and wanted to here everyone's thoughts.

I can get a stock replacement line in regular steel for around $70 or $100 for stainless.

I can get a rolls of fuel injection rubber line or aluminum tubing for pretty cheap and run that.

The other option would be to try and score some braided lines off of ebay for cheap.

So what do you all think?

Buy a new steel line as this is a safety issue. You could go with the FI line but it can not hold up to the abuse the steel line can. I changed mine just because it was 40 years old. I also upgraded to 3/8 instead of the 5/16 stock line. You may need to get under the carpet to remove the line holder thingyee's to put in the new line but other than that it's pretty straight forward

I had the alum line in the past but it can be punctured easly (small rock off the tire got mine) Also, the alum is hard to get bent straight enought to look good. Not saying it can't be done right but the pre bent steel lines are factory correct and fit perfect in the original position

The pre-bent lines are easier to install than bending your own. You will need to straighten out one large 180 degree bend that was put into it so that the whole line fits in the box. What every you do, get the 3/8" ones instead of the factory 5/16" as they are more performance oriented.

If it's in the engine bay, why not just cut out the piece that's smashed and replace with rubber line? There is already rubber line joining your metal fuel line to the pump.. the only difference is that it will now be a slightly longer piece of rubber.

Also, you don't need the high pressure rated fuel line for EFI applications. You can buy just regular rubber fuel line hose for dirt cheap.
