Hi i just bought a 2003 Mustang GT-R the ride is great. I couldn't have asked for a better car. I have a few quesions about it. First, the badge says GTR, does the R mean premium? like leather seats, ect..? if not whats exactly does it mean.

It also came with what doesnt sound like a stock exhaust, although it is my first mustang. i got under it with a mirror and saw that it has a VForce Exaust, is this stock?

Also, i want to start modding it and did some research on parts that i want to get in the near future. My question is when would i need a tune/ what parts after i replace them would require a tune. im talkin about mainly bolt ons, not replacing the block and such.

Working on it would all be new to me considering the only mechanical work ive done is oil/filter/breaks/rotors ect.., the small stuff.

And one more thing, at what point would i have to really start replacing the stock parts. i Read the stock engine can handle up to about 400-450hp till major work needs to be done.

Thank you,
eric.

Well first off there is no such thing as a GTR. It is just an emblem someone added. Leather seats etc are just options that Gt's had.

As far as the exhaust, it is not stock. Not sure what brand v-force mufflers are, but its aftermarket.

yes, stock engine is probably pretty good till about 400-450 rwhp depending on the tune.

You will need a good tune when you add parts such as heads or cams etc. Just bolt ons such as throttle body or headers or pullies will really not require a tune.

I hope you didnt pay more for the car because the previous owner convinced you that it was a rare GT-R model there is no such thing dude and the previous owner is a tool for having that badge on there.

Not trying to be an ass here, but I've got to ask this: Is your Mustang a GT? Does it have dual exhaust and, of course, a V8 engine?

I think V-force , is made buy Pypes Exhaust now , or the name was change from V-Force to Pypes Exhaust , not sure !

And sorry , but that GT-R badge is some rice crap picked up at an Auto parts store and slapped on your Stang , best bet is remove asap , so guys that take owning and driving a Mustang very serious (like me), dont point and laugh at you for being a racer wannabe , GT-R badge is a Nissan thing and has no business being on a Mustang !

Hey Its your first Mustang and you didnt know , so stick around here and you will learn alot about your Mustang and what parts work and what dont , just dont go around telling people you have a special GT-R model !

Glad to have you hear , post some pics so we can check your Mustang out !

Thanks for the pics, nice car.

How many miles? Probably the first thing you should do, before you begin modding it, is to bring maintenance up to date. Change all fluids, filters, etc. If I bought a used car, I would assume all fluids and filters needed replacing.

Dealers only change oil if your lucky... The get it out as cheap as possible so they can make as much money and you can bring it to them for "service".

Thanks for the pics , Looks great , and dont worry about a hole being behind the GT-R badge , a stick on GT badge was in the spot the GT-R badge is at now , so no hole , unless the Guy drilled a hole to put that crappy GT-R on the trunk , only the ford badge has a two little holes !

Is it an auto or stick ?

As much as the Mach 1000 sucks... it's not THAT bad for most people.
