WELCOME TO STANGNET

What size wheels are those? If you ran those at the drag strip they are really going to slow you down.

Once you drop that '04 PI (power improved) engine in you should be able to click off high 13 second times just fine.

Houston is the biggest city in terms of area out of the top 5 most populated cities in America. I saw your thread a while back. I look forward to seeing your car out at the strip! We can lay the smack down on Maddox!

nemostang, welcome! NPI cars are slow as turds stock. It takes quite a bit to get them running strong. If you are looking for 13's, it takes about 800 bucks. pullies, H pipe, timing adjuster, pi intake, and a set of drag radials will get you high 13's at around 100mph if you can drive. Good luck. (btw, take the caps lock off)

Mark

nevermind, you have a pi motor. Tires, and you have a 13 second car if you lose the wheels.

HMD?

Which area of Houston do you stay on? Who is installing the engine for you and are you doing any mods during the install (long tube headers most importantly)?

As for wanting to lay the smack down on me Mark--your skills at driving the vette are going to need to improve with your skating problem. NPI autos don't spin

do you have a stock differential as in its the same one the car came with from the factory?

i honestly no nothing about npi's though, i'd be willing to say 2.73's maybe im sure im wrong though someone else will chime. What you should go with though is anything between 3.73 and 4.10, maybe even 4.30 if you dont care about diminished mileage.

EDIT: O yeah, what year is your car??

yea if its a stock 97 read diff. then it won't have anything near 3.73's lol my stock 99 diff is 3.27's i think. Im sure a set of gears would really wake your car up

npi means "non-power improved or non-performance improved" which is the style of heads, cam and intake that came on 4.6L cars 98 and below. Beginning in 99, we received pi motors which have an upgraded head, intake and cam combination that boost power up to 260hp factory rated at the crank. A very common mod/swap in the mustang world is to take a set of pi heads/cams/intake and swap it over to an npi block, which results in different compressions and a substantial increase in power. Used pi heads, cams, and intakes are fairly cheap nowadays too.
