Well, actually I guess most my questions are already answered. But anyway, I have an '86 Bronco thats about to go to Ford and get fixed (Had a problem with it starting. After I replaced the flexplate and the starter countless times and still having the problem, I'm fed-up and taking it to Ford cause I think it has an electrical problem. But anyway). Anyway, I'm going to sell it for reliablity issues. Anyway I'm looking into a Stang as my replacement. Just really curious on the realibility(?) of it. My Bronco has a 5.8 in it that's been very dependible and it's got 170k on it. Anyway, I'm assuming a 5.0 may be a little different, considering theres a different tranny and stuff. As well it's a Mustang with a 5.0 and it's under an obligation to be driven hard. So what say all you? I'm looking for an '89-92ish one.

awsome choice to join our group first to let u know 87-93 stangs are exactly the same in apprence some little things like steering wheels and stuff are diffrent, and they say 93 has less hp then its older brother, some say becuase the intake or something was more restricting some say ford decided to give out the real numbers that year, only a diffrernce of about 20hp a good amount but hey, first mustangs are awsome especially 5.0's there cheap and easy to find, its good if u find a stock one the lower the miles the better of course but more money, i got my car for 1700 with like 120kmiles which is alot even tho some people on here are at like 190kmiles and still running strong, if the car is not stock when u get it most likley the old owner drove it hard, thats why he put parts in it, so the more stock the better, make sure u get a t-5 5-speed autos are about 1.5secs slower in 1/4 mile and get worse gas milage, stangs are easy to work on and u can get parts for good prices, just some of my opinions i have on stangs, other people will probaly answer with more opinions but anyways if u buy one good luck and welcome

Another question.
How do I get my girlfriend to like them
She keeps telling me she doesn't want me to get one, she's convinced they're 'ugly'. Even though it's one of my favorite lookings cars, he he (Of course, I tell her if she doesn't like it, oh well. It's my money, my car )
Oh well, I guess I'll just have to dump her. Ha ha

i think the fenders changed a little later in the fox run (for bigger wheels tires).
it sounds like you know what is up - 89 up (88 up in cali) is Mass air. late 92's got hyper pistons. so an 89 - 92 is a good choice.
we look forward to helping you get a stang up to snuff, once you get one.

well, i'd say to find a really nice one or get a 5.0 mag and show her the ones in there. best is to let her come with you on test drives, to feel the power. get a manual 89-92
this will be your best choice and as with any car get it checked out by a mechanic and have him check for rust and frame damage. where do you live also, here in ny a lot of the mustangs are rustangs, because people drive them in all weather and seasons. they are not meant for snow, can be fun but be careful in the rain, and will last as long as you maintain it.

I'm in Colorado. Most the Stangs I've looked at around here, well actually, all I've seen are rust free. Infact, I've never seen a later foxbody thats rusted really. Around here at least. Oh as well, I can't seem to find any specs on the Stangs. I know I looked em up once. The 89-92 are putting out somewhere between 200-220Hp right? Whats the torque on em?
And yes, I am planning on looking for a nice 5-Speed.
The other good thing is I wont have to retire my Ford hat I had custom made It's nice and worn out now, except it says 351 on the back (Because of the Bronco)...now what would be more fun? Changing the hat to say 302 or changing the Stang to 351

Anyway, do Stangs have very many relibilities outside of merely taking care of them? Stuff that can't be prevented from taking care of em? Just curious, cause the other car I was looking into was an early (90-92) Taurus SHO, but found out how much work they require to keep em running perfect, I just don't have that kind of money. He he.

Oh, one more thing. I've been trying to figure it out now, but whats the difference between the LX and the GT? I looked for different styling but I didn't see any. I can't figure it out.

the GT's have the body cladding (ground effects). the LX is more stripped down, body wise. the tail pipes go straight through.

So basically it's all personal preference? From the looks of things around here the LX and the GT are about the same price.

yea only difference between lx and gt is gorund effects and weight, gt weigh about 150lbs more, for specs go to msn.com and click autos then just put in ford then mustang and click yea, hp should be around 225 and 93's are about 205 torque should be around 275-300, suposidly thats to the flywheels so hp to the wheels is like 190 but that can be change very easily

GT's had different interior options than the LX in the earlier years I blv. But for the most part you are correct, just the looks/preference.

Oh and another one, he he. Insurence? What kind of prices am I looking at? Does insurence for an LX come cheaper than a GT, simply because of a moniker? Also on a clean slate versus one with a speeding ticket what kind of rates am I looking at? Simply for speculation...

no clue sry, i think my brother pays like 150 a month, not sure hes 16, i was gonna tell u one thing i know taht usually goes bad in stangs is not a big deal but the seats always get a lean in them becase something in the parts inside the tracks cracks or brakes, mostly all do mine did, best thing to do is get new racing seats or some u like or find someone to fix them, and the armrest parts are usually broken but u can build a whole new console from 50resto.com so no problem, and of course engine parts will wear all depending on milage and how hard the owner pushes the car, nothing mayjor or things that usually goes first, probaly little things like spark plugs ext.

huh? do you mean notches when referring to 'normal LX's'?
there are notches (LX trim only, as far as i know). then hatches and verts in both trims.

a pic of Dave's ride (Mansonozz) will change anyone's mind, IMHO. i love his ride.
