new here

Hi.

I am new here. I just found this board. Interesting topics.

My car:
67 Fastback GTA, originally a 390, lost somewhere in the 70's. I got it with a 289, 2V, which lasted a few years. Then built a 429 (72 T-bird, known as a Thunderjet) and wedged into the engine bay. Local Ford dealer built a special C6 for me, also 3.50 posi 9" diff., 750 Holley, Edelbrock performer, Comp Cams camshaft (.570 lift, 282 dur), bored 0.030 over, decked the block, ported/polished heads, decked the heads, put in 10.5:1 pistons, roller rockers, 2.5" Flowmaster 40s.

Dyno'd this summer @372 rwhp, 490 ft-lbs torque.

Starting to rebuild suspension with some bodywork yet to complete.

the 390 was available as an option in 67 (called a thunderbird special), it was the mustang's first big block. of course since the stang got the 390, shelby had to have something bigger, so they went with 428. although i am sure gear-heads have put 427s into 67's, no stang came from the factory with one in that year.

I had an original 1967 GT fastback with a 390/4spd. It was a ferocious car & weighed in at only 3000 pounds. With a 4:11 rear, it was the fastest car that I ever owned. The CJ that I have now is a better engine, but the weight of the car (plus the automatic) mellows the power a bit. That 67 would light up the tires for many many feet.
