New hood

Hey guys, I'm getting the KarKraft shaker hood scoop for my GT, but I was wondering where should I get a new Mach 1 hood? I looked at the CDC shaker, but I don't want to cut up my hood so I'm going with the Karkraft. Should I try to find a used Mach 1 hood or buy a brand new one? The car is true blue so I can't just get a used one that'll match right up, what do you guys think would be best?

If you get one from the Ford dealer you'll eat it on the cost. To give you an idea, an 03/04 cobra hood from them retails for $710.45. I bought one on ebay for $200.00. You could always check ebay, although I haven't personally ever seen a Mach 1 hood there. Might be worth checking the classifieds around the mustang sites, junkyards, etc.

I went with the KarKraft kit, and was lucky enough to find a Mach 1 hood in just the right color on eBay. Not only being far more inexpensive than Ford, it also already had all the other little extras like the stripes and the underhood padding.

Back when I was looking, a Mach 1 hood was showing up on eBay every few weeks. Do a "favorite search" and have eBay automatically email you whenever ones gets offered.

check a salvage yard maybe. presigemustang.com is great, check it out. other than something like that i would have to say ebay. stay away from the price nazis, er ford dealerships

GET THE MACH 1 HOOD! I had a CDC Shaker Hood kit on my '02 GT and the applique (that black thing that sits on top of the hood to cover the whole) about came off on me while I was going down the interestate. Get yourself a Mach 1 hood and save yourself a lot of stress and aggrivation. CDC told me their shaker scoop won't work with a Mach 1 hood but I think the KarKraft ones do. You could also take the option I took in the end, get a real Mach 1!
