i bought my car not too long ago and the guy i bought it from said it had a cam he didnt know what size it was or anything, as far as i can tell it has one because of a rough idle and sound. I am planning on getting a Trick Flow street heat intake soon and i was wondering if this would "wake up" the cam more? because i figure its not doin much as it sits with nothing done on the intake side of the car

if you have the stock intake, then it will wake it up quite a bit, because the stock intake (especially the lower) is the most restrictive part of the intake track.

i have the trick flow "street heat" intake and i am very happy with it. i got mine at summit racing for $400.

i don't know why they previous owner would just do a cam without doing anything else. that just doesn't make much sense.

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

The exhaust ports are the most restrictive part of the engine. If you take the heads off and clean out the ports that will make a big difference.

A lot of people have no real sense when it comes to modding cars. I've heard of a lot of people sticking a big, or just slightly bigger, cam in stock cars and expecting big gains. Unless it's an LS1, they tend to get nothing but a lumpy idle and weak low end. It's right up there with the people who think they have the baddest car around because they got some headers .

Or the hillbilly around the corner from me that races his Dodge 1500 because it's got a (junk ass) Hemi in it.
