New interior colors

Here’s a little preview of the new colors. Don’t know if you remember but it used to be a white interior.

New colors are light gray seats with charcoal gray panels and other trim in black.

Still fighting to get a uniform finish on the front door panels. It’s crazy because one night the clear matte VHT dried perfect without being splotchy. I was excited and got two more cans. The next night, the very same produdid not dry uniform. It was more humid the second night. Do you think humidity alone can cause the splotchy condition?

Humidity is entirely responsible for that. Interior paints are lacquers,..and those type of paints are absolutely intolerant of high humidity. You have a condition that is called blush. And the only way to fix that is to control the humidity.

So far the console, rear seat cushions and rear side panels have turned out good. I have the front seats and front door panels remaining to get right. I'm stepping away for a week to allow curing of what coats are on those parts so far. After that time passes, I'll wait for low humidity mild temp day to try again.

Original seat coverings I believe.

Here’s the front seats before paint. The upholstery is in good condition. It’s just stained with years of grime.

Do the backrests come off of the lower cushion easily? What, just remove plastic cover and one torx style bolt on each side? And the lumbar action on the backrests (they work actually). Is that just a vacuum line?

I think a pair of 13mm on the other side, and then pull the vacuum tube apart for the lumbar.

It's really easy.

I might want to paint the vents and the lighter grey front dash piece. The glove box is easy but does this light grey strip and vents on the dash come out easy? I don’t want to pull the whole dash.

I'm pretty sure @95steedamustang has a method for repairing panels that includes duplicating the factory texture.

Here’s how I fixed the holes with JB Qwik weld. 1) de-burred them. 2) used tape as backer from the under side. 3). Used tape on top side to keep excess JB from getting outside of the repair area. 4) filled with JB. 5) pulled tape off before JB set up. 6) trimmed excess JB with razor after partial set while JB was still moderately pliable.

Looking good I think. After paint I think it will look decent.
